I had my cybertruck vinyl wrapped with vinyl here in Houston a few weeks ago. Total cost was a bit under $2,500. I could have chosen from seemingly a hundreds or more samples. Matte finish and does not accumulate fingerprints!

Call it a OTA recall. What makes it expensive for both the customer and the company is having to take it to the dealer and paying for labor. Even if it's software, if you have to take it to the dealer, it's still expensive.

There aren’t as many cars available for full FSD when it is released as only hardware 4 cars will be available to use. At least at first.

I am very interested to know if the new Model Y will have an improved suspension. My current Model Y ride is very rough in my opinion. As far as Full Self Driving is concerned I am interested in knowing if or when it is likely that the vehicles will communicate with other vehicles to improve FSD safety.
@williamgrunzweig571

It will be when. If you want, you can read the release notes for 13.2.1 online. For now, it would appear to be more about road closures and stuff. "Dynamic routing around road closures, which displays them along an affected route when they are detected by the fleet" I would also guess that the new 2024 Model Y will have a similarly improved suspension system just like the 2024 Model 3 received. It is also possible the performance will get that adaptive like suspension system just like the performance model 3. Also, the AWD LR model 3 can get the acceleration boost, which could mean the AWD LR Model Y will also get one in its near future as well.

@@williamgrunzweig571 Jan 2023 and newer Y’s already have the same suspension tech on. I have a March 2023 one and it’s a lot better than the one I test drove the previous year and as good as or better than the new 3 suspension

Tesla should at least put a backup camera on the Robotaxi so that people inside can see what is coming from behind them. A lot of bad stuff sneaks up on you in a vehicle from the rear. Car-jacking, rear-end collisions, road rage situations and the like. It would be nice to get a little heads-up when something bad is about to happen "before" it actually happens. That way a passenger could "brace for impact" or prepare to defend against a would-be attacker.

makes sense to do it after getting the car. Imagine getting it wrapped from factory, and if it ever needed to be peeled off there was paint damage underneath cause there was no way to check before hand.

My '24 M3P had tire pressure as low as 36 and never notified me.. I wondered how much further it would go before going off. The recommended pressure is 42, so that is a difference of 6psi. I guess that wasn't enough, or it never let me know.

A lower cost Model 3 and Y with a metal roof is one way Tesla can offer lower cost cars. I want to see analysis of how much difference in cost replacing that glass roof would save. I believe the cost of insurance would also be less if the car and SUV had a conventional metal roof and a normal size windshield and rear window or hatchback sized glass.
@GoodOlClint
@GoodOlClint 5 сағат бұрын
I think I remember reading somewhere that the glass roof actually reduces the cost to manufacture because it allows the robots much easier access into the car.

@carlosgamez6230
@carlosgamez6230 4 сағат бұрын
@@GoodOlClintthe glass itself is incredibly expensive which is why cars don’t do it them apart from the luxury brands. A steel roof is much more cost effective and honestly wanted. My maxima has a panoramic roof and I end up leaving the shade closed 98% of time except when it’s spring and I want that breeze lol a steel roof, cloth manual seats, and lower range/less powerful motors is the key to a cheaper model. Why they haven’t done it yet considering it’s easy on established production lines is beyond me but rumor is the “new cheap model” is just that on a model 3

I've had this software update for the recall weeks before I got any notification. Going to email notiification or posting a nagging notice on the Tesla App would be much better than wasting all the paper. The only pro-active thing I would do if I were Tesla is to post when an update is available that it includes the fix for a specific recall. This notice would be both in the Tesla app and on the Tesla's screen. My last update did not cleaarly indicate it included a recall fix.

So in those robotaxi shots with 5 or 6 vehicles, snaking around the road and droppoing people off - taking up about 50 or 60 m of road. For 12 people, maybe 15 if the Ys had 3 people. They will be useful. But Tesla should swallow its pride, accept busses work (robovan after all!) and think about 6-10 seater vehicles on a limited number of loops at least to start with. They don't even have Waymo's ride share experience and should start slow.

No one will buy the robotaxi who doesn’t want to run an autonomous cab. It is a two seater without any performance. No thrill of driving not even the ability to drive it. No family will buy no midlife crisis will buy. It is a can and that’s all. Who would by a 30k robotaxi two seater when you could buy a 2 year old model Y with the ability to self drive also, for 25k. There’s something they aren’t telling us. Otherwise this would be mindlessly dumb. Hopefully they aren’t in such a bubble that they think people would buy this for a personal vehicle.

The question is around leasing vs purchase. If almost 75% of EV's are leases then the crazy depreciation on EV's continues. On average a Modely Y depreciates 40% in the first year. That is why hybrids and hybrid plugins are popular in USA. You have all the advantages of an EV, potentially 90% of driving electric solving pollution issues and plus protection against deprciation. With a hybrid, your 500 mile road trip today costs less than an EV in most of the country when you get just 40 MPG average in hybrid vs charging cost at 40 to 60 cents a kilowatt hour. Unfortunately Toyota which is the best hybrid has been dragging its feet. My wife's Prius V has retained almost 50% of its value after 10 years vs an EV loosing 50% of its value in just a couple of years. Bonus, I can replace the 130 pound battery myself for less than $2,000 and just keep driving.

Who buys a Tesla so that they can sell it? It will say for 300-500K miles, 500-800K for the S & X and some over a million miles. Hertz made that same error. Why sell a car in 5 years that will last a lifetime?

Cybercab won't be for sale anytime soon, FSD is far from being ready. Btw - the robovan is a joke, it will never appear on the streets as it was presented. New Model Y will make no difference to sales volume (see Model 3 refresh). Chinese EV competition will destroy Tesla China just because they innovate too slow as history proves. Chinese competition is showing better design, better tech, better quality and better range. In summary, M3 and MY sales will continue to decline (despite all the major incentives from Tesla). Model X and S and Cybertruck are dead already and Tesla never managed to get costs for Cybertruck in control, as anticipated. EV sales raise but not Tesla, they can barely maintain last years sales while China EV sales are going through the roof. Musk is alienating potential buyers in Europe and US.

3:27 Just have to say I completely disagree with you ! why complicate issues with different names? Tire pressure can be VERY important . Ford had a huge lawsuit against them all based on accidents and deaths caused by tire pressure issues and that lawsuit is the main reason most cars have tire pressure monitoring today. It does not matter how the safety problem with your car is fixed, over the air or at the dealer, it matters that there is a safety issue with your car that needs to be fixed and tracked. As cars become more and more software based it is going to be very important to consumers to see who has the most bugs in their software and how quickly they fix it.

@@12user-u5h Hi thanks for the reply and I get his point I just don't agree with it. It should be called a recall so people take it seriously. If a car company had dozens of recalls because their software is very badly written and the screen turns off or the brakes go on for no reason or the wipers don't turn on when it rains ....... and its just called a simple software update , just an "undocumented feature" you might buy a car that you would not if you had seen those updates called recalls like they should be.
