I created a player on the editor, and just followed their career. You need to make sure you have certain leagues loaded depending on where they start and where they could go. You also need to make sure the “detail level” has the right setting for those league. The detail level can be found by clicking the FM button that eventually leads to the preference button. In there you can choose which leagues and competitions keep highlights. I would also recommend making an auto save every 6 months if you sim 1 season at a time.
