I love your bike reviews because you get to the point, cover most important points and don't make your reviews long and dragged out. Thank you for these reviews, I have learned so much about bikes I am interested in.

Great video, and really great to be able to see the size sticker!

Thats an interesting choice of parts. Nothing fancy, but everything is very durable and easy to repair on the road. Looks like that was Salsa’s intention.

Ohh, and , upgrade the 700x38 Teravail to 44 Mezcal tubeless and it gets really really capable …with the 2x 😊

After seeing your video last month with the bike stand I did an internet search and came across Ninja MTB Hopper Smile bike stand made from CNC cut plywood. Similar design of the one in this video, works great

While I like the flatbar Journeyer, I still think that a hardtail or full-sus XC bike mounted up with a set of Gravel tires would make a better Gravel bike. That's what I ride on gravel.

Hey James, I think from a fan base pov we would like to see you ranking the bikes in order of your opinion, for example if you could rate the best aluminium framed bikes or something similar. (That always brings good views😄,thank u)

That's a good idea. Maybe during winter I can get together some videos like that.

Salsa: how much versatility and reliability should we put into this new bike? Dave the intern: yes. Salsa: by god, Dave, you’re a genius! You’re promoted to chief of product design! Silliness aside, this is the bike that other touring/gravel centered brands need to strive for, and what many other brands need to make their rigid fork city bikes. It’s basic, but beautiful!

That looks like a pretty colored Schwinn with a rigid frame.

I’ve got the 2022 Journeyer 2.1 810 GRX (700C). My local shop fitted me as a 60 cm. I’m 6’, 185 lbs, 32” waist. Heard these run small, as I historically rode a 58cm Bianchi road bike. Does that seem on point to you? Thx!

Looks like the Trek FX3 may be a similar bike in price.

I feel like for a little more money there are better hybrids available, but this is on par with spec.
@cjohnson38362 жыл бұрын
Worse spec but higher price than previous years = higher barrier to entry. But sure, change 3 letters and that equals inclusivity.
@cjohnson38362 жыл бұрын
@@RN82131 Because there's major difference between disc vs rim brakes and you're not fitting 50mm tires on an escape. Journeyman/er is meant to be an entry gravel/bikepacking bike. It gets used as a do-it-all daily use bike but its that 10% that it can do that an escape can't that makes the difference.
@Neog772 жыл бұрын
How does it compare with Trek FX 3 disc?
@Jamesthebikeguy2 жыл бұрын
Very very different bikes. This is much more adventure ready/utilitarian. The FX3 is a bit more focused on on-road riding and commuting. You should ride them both you would see that they are different animals and what jives to your preferences.
@farcinue2 жыл бұрын
Curious too… I can understand how this is spec’d differently, but how are the geometries different for the different purposes?
@jeff5721 Жыл бұрын
"More inclusivity"? Well, what's included depends on the shop selling the bike. The shop I worked in back in the day included 10% off accessories and maybe a free first check-up.

the journeyman was a great bike! ride mine several days per week. clearance on the journeyman was better. should review a drop bar grx!

Is it aggressively geometry ??

It's a shame that they scrapped the front derailleur. It would have been so much better with a 46/30t front gears.
@Not_Sure_2 жыл бұрын
@@RN82131 I understand that. Unfortunately once the bike is loaded with gear, you're going to need more lower gears, for the climbs. Don't get me wrong, this is a great bike for the city, with less things to go wrong.

From Minnesota, the name change is wokeness . Beyond that, I HIGHLY recommend opting for the 2x option the Claris offers. I spent the 100 bucks and got the lower gears and it makes it extremely capable, versus just Capable

James, what happened? With the journey when you were so detailed on the bike weight carrying capacity possible usage as a touring backpacking bike etc. I appreciate that you include the weight of the bike as your standard, but for an everything tight bicycle I’d like to know the amount of weight that the bike can carry. Really like your channel and generally like your reviews because you’re usually very detailed. You didn’t even mention if there were other suspension options or drivetrain options. Maybe you’ll get around to doing a more thorough review of the spike. It just came out so we want to know every detail. It doesn’t seem like that should’ve taken much more effort. Best of luck and I’ll be looking forward to the standard of review that you did on the salsa journeyman. Or else I’ll have to find some other Bike reviewer that doesn’t value only bicycle weekend not all the other metrics that we’re looking for. We can look online and see the weight of the bike. I watch your videos for more of the overall opinion. But this one really let me down. Again best of luck and hope you give this one another try.

Seems like all cheap components on this bike. Hard to justify the price tag.
