Pro tip, set well shaken spray cans in a pan of hot water, gets a more fine aerosol spray and spray coats dry faster.

I ended up painting my first rifle in asscrackistan back in 09 and it wasn't my M-4. Sprayed the entirety of the AK tan then threw a camo net over and hit it with od green and for my first time it wasnt bad.

I actually didnt meticulously tear painters tape, but printed a tiger strip template from google, laminated it and cut out the strips for a positive template. The occluded some strips with painters tape and also had different sized/shaped stripes for the different layers.

I have decided I will never NOT use a stencil on my rifle paint jobs. It's just a way better end result. I've done tan/black tiger stripes, rhodesian camo, and artic-ish camo. None are perfect, but they're all bad@$$

Paint planning. Whatever is your desired main color should be first layer and your biggest stencil/layer of tape progessively moving to the smaller patterns. Or last, idk figure it out. Lol Dang I love painting my rifles lol thanks, Flop Ross!

Thanks Nolan A few years ago I did a couple rifles and splotching works well in my area, the pattern was also based off a commercially available camo pattern that worked well in all seasons in my area. To achieve that a $1 wally world bath poof, or luffa or whatever, was sprayed in the desired color and then dabbed on the rifle. Along with the other painting and steps, these rifles disappeared into the local foliage.
