Most people overlook the fact that painting a rifle helps protect the exterior of the rifle from corrosion! Rusting issues can be such a headache for people living in humid environments! Painting the rifle adds a protective layer against the elements as well as hand sweat.

@StuninRub Жыл бұрын
@EtonFink777 Your KAC and 416 is mostly aluminum, that shit doesn't rust, your barrel and BCG would be the only thing at risk. Barrels are consumables so it's like painting brass and if you want problems, paint the BCG.

Another tip for patterning. Get some local flora like a piece of bush, wildgrass, etc and paint the darker color over that. That way it further matches the brushy area around you.

When i was active duty the majority of my guns would stay at home and i found that every leave period i had to bust off some light surface rust from everything. I eventually just painted everything whether i nessisarily wanted it painted or not for the practicality of keeping rust off of the surface. Its no cerkote but it does help a lot

A method I plan on doing myself is to use an old laundry bag. You'll get a nice hex pattern. Looks like you can scrunch it up or tighten to control the pattern dispersal. Same applies for people that use camo nets.

Painting a firearm also helps breakup the silhouette of a rifle against your body from a distance. If its the same shades as the clothing you have on, it will make it harder for an enemy combatant to make out what you have in your hands.

I use the rustoleum as well. It goes on easy, you can redo it for different environments or seasons, and looks cool when it wears. I do also use two coats of rustoleum matte clear coat on top just to help prevent wear a bit longer though. Also helps protect spots where the different pigments/dyes didn't want to spray correctly.

Perfect for scratch and dent, cosmetic second or blem "on sale special" parts! Buy them up cheap when you can piece by piece deeply discounted. Once you acquire enough to build a rifle put them together and do a camo paint job to not only hide all the imperfections but scratch your camo itch and needs all in one go.

@toddk13772 жыл бұрын
If you need any light colored greens, Rust-Oleum Hunter green satin or semi gloss works great. Helps give it more of a break up as natural green foliage has a slight sheen to it and use flat for other colors. I did that on my 50 cal, only have about 20% coverage in Hunter green and the rest is flat forest green, Khaki, brown, and little dark brown. I set it down in the field with lots of weeds and grass, hard to notice it 50 ft away, obvious to where it is since I put it there, but if I didn't know where it was, I bet I'd really have to look for it.
