The Joy of Flying, Powered Parachute

Imagine the pure, unadulterated joy of flying, free-as-a-bird flying, wind-in-your-face flying. Then, combine that with the adventure of exploring a pristine river in the company of good friends, while you all share the same sky, the same exhilaration, the same joy of being alive. Come along and fly with us. While it may appear at times to be filmed on the Congo or Zambezi Rivers, you won't see any elephants or hippos here. In reality it was filmed on the Minnesota River, near Belle Plaine, Minnesota. If you enjoy this one, be sure to check out more of my many powered parachute videos. That's exactly what it felt like . . . fantastic! Thinking about getting an elliptical wing like in video, an ASAP E340S. Anyone you know fly one on a Six Chuter, like I have? Looking for feedback experience. Some say elliptical won't work on Six Chuter. But the E340S has shorter lines so it comes up faster. Sure would like to talk to someone who has tried it, succesfully or not. Thanks for your help. [e-mail]

I did not use a GoPro with this video. It was filmed with a Sony HDR-SR-11 camcorder mounted on the frame of the flying machine. Glad you liked it.

With the engine running, the parachute (or wing) generates lift due to the air moving over the wing. As with any flying machine eventually it runs out of gas and must return to the earth. It lands like any airplane. If you reduce power it descends until it reaches the ground.

The flight looks great but where would you land if your motor shut off during most of your video?

It was an opportunity for a great video, and I took it. No doubt, it was risky, and I was very aware of the consequences at the time. I do not recommend this for most people.
