Thanks for the lead to this video. I like your thought process about creating sound through each circuit you patch the oscillators through. I had some of these modules before my house burned in the wildfire two years ago. I am rebuilding my studio at last, in a new house. I am going to have a more minimalist set up this time. It was nice to revisit modular synthesis and the creative process that they inspire.

what a consummate professional. never once had a patch cable in the mouth or slung around the neck. amazing produciton and love the humor! my recent favorite rings trick is running it through the doepfer bitcrusher. the first couple algos, without SR reduction, have a nice sublte up to very noticable distortion. of course data bender takes care of that for ya! i've found my favorite use for data bender is on airier sounds like the twin q voice on braids.

20:10 Think you have the flying attenuator from EO Wave. The Berlin based company KOMA Elektronik has passive attenuator cables, which are pretty nice.

Ah, I just looked that one up and it’s similar but different. The jacks are positioned differently and the knob is different but it’s essentially the same thing. I do have some of those attenuator cables though. I used to use them before I picked up these attenuators.

Indeed! There are several variations of the 'flying' attenuators out there. I use the "Workmate 0hp Attenuator" (from Pusherman), which is very similar. These things are great, especially for portable rigs.

one piece of gear you didn't mention... & I gotta know... what are those in-ear monitors you are--or he is, if anybody else knows--using here? (but headphones start to slay after as little as 15 or 20 minutes. I've tried several that sound tinny & just bad.) I need some good in-ear monitors that hopefully don't cost a gajillion dollars. can anybody help?

Ah, yeah. Didn’t list them. Good point. Well, they’re the 315’s by Shure and they’re… okay. Don’t sound great, are a bit too midrangey. I just use them on camera so that I don’t always have huge headphones on my head for the shot. I prefer my open air Sennheiser HD600’s for all-day comfort: amzn.to/3rr4vr4

Haha. My studio door is a big barn door that slides out of the way so that one end of the room is completely open. And yeah, the only space for my synth in the studio is on that part of the wall as the other walls have windows or built-in shelves on them.
