Hello, I found your work because it was used in a Sail Cargo video about building the galley for the beautiful ship Ceiba, being built in Costa Rica. When completed, it will be the largest sailing cargo vessel in the world. Your music was a nice addition to the video. Thank you

I heard your track called “your pond”. When listening to synth music, I never look to see who made it or the name of the track, I just appreciate all the different sounds people are capable of producing. But there was something about your vibration. I immediately had to know who this artist was. You touched me on a different level! MUAH.

Nice start could be the virtual rack software ( vcvrack.com/ ) but its software only and lacks the whole intuitivity thing of modular synthesis by patching cables into jacks. To get warm with Hardware you should go to your next instrument store and try out the KORG MS20 mini semimodular synthesizer (used ca. 500€) or (to stay in the eurorack-format) the Moog mother32 (used ca. 650€). If one of them inspires you and let you have a lot of fun, buy one of them or both and expand your system module by module. Keep in mind that you need something to record your music and to add effects like reverb or tape delay. If you want to keep it really basic (=no fx just audio recording) you can buy the tascam dr40 recorder, which records in up to 24 Bit/96kHz. But has just 2 line ins but nice quality and is very easy to use. More advanced record solution would be to use a computer (if u have one, really cheap ones are at pollin.de) via an audio interface (behringer u-phoria = cheap but bad lateny or steinberg/yamaha ur22/44 or ur828). 1st Software could be audacity (with no costs cause it's open source) or more advanced to buy something like a music magazine like KEYS special with cubase le 9 (around 15 bucks, eg. www.amazon.de/Cubase-Vollversion-Musikproduktionssoftware-Steinberg-Special/dp/B071WSSS7F )

No doubt, download VCV Rack - doesn't cost a nickel and you can really dive into modular from this amazing software. Via VCV, you will have a very good idea if you really want to get into modular, which is terribly expensive and very chaotic (yet brilliant!).

Hey Emily, I am curating a compilation album with music from the modular scene on KZbin for the Leipzig based independend label 'Pattern//Select'. The album will be released on cassette tape around april 2018 and will be totally non-profit - all the sales will just be used to cover the costs of the production. We wanted to make more people aware of the great music that is created every day by all those creative and talented people here on KZbin and give something back to this lovely scene. If you are interested in being part of the tape please tell me, I will put my e-mail adress into the comments so we can get in contact for further information about the project. So far, artists like Comparative Irrelevance, Atreyu's Horse, Kupka or Nick Jackson will be on the album. Greetings from Leipzig, Leon

hi! I am sort of based in NY, but floating a lot right now. don't currently have any modular shows booked because my more folky songwriting project, florist, is pretty active right now. I am working on getting my modular stuff in a more central place where music can be downloaded and shows will be happening! if anything happens, I will announce it here on youtube or on my instagram @mlesprg : )

Emily, I loved this for the most part except for the artificial record scratching. I don't know why this has become a fad among mod synth artists lately, but to me it's just random unpleasant *entropy* flaking off of the otherwise beautiful life of music. It just reminds me of death. Maybe it's just me, but life is far more interesting than death, and we haven't finished describing all the life in music yet. :-) (Also, still waiting for that Krell patch. ;-) )
@stevenrempel
@stevenrempel 6 жыл бұрын
one cannot have life, without death :) . death sustains your life, death ends all cycles of life to begin life anew. I like it personally, as it sounds to me more like a modulated noise source, which is sound emanated from random circuit noise, which I find interesting to hear a direct voltage sound source as SPL. To each, their own :)
