At a time when other channels are “evolving”, away from their original material and into what i call mere sponsorship of mass products, it is extremely refreshing to see someone hold the line and continue the tradition of innovation and versatility that gave our hobby life in the first place. Please keep it up, my friend

Here here. It's the joy of wargaming, not the exploitation (is prostitution too strong?) of wargaming. And so much the better for it.

@@johnscarr70 You were spot on. The word prostitution fits perfectly with so many channels these days.

@@dartmart9263 And it's sad to see it happen. I subscribe to channels outside of the hobby and I just don't want to see guests, endorsement, promotions, or in the case of one poor chap, a descent into eccentricity / madness. I followed Samuel Hawley's series on the Imjin War and that's the sort of thing I really looked forward to, almost as much as JoW.

@@johnscarr70 Ive been unsubscribing from many channels lately for that same reason. If it feels like a commercial, count me out. Or if the channel purports to be about scratchbuilding terrain and turns into one Warhammer kit build after another. It’s like they forget who supported them and got them started in the first place, during the hardest times.

Looking forward to seeing this lot finished and on the table 👏👏👍

Even unpainted, there's a nice "Star Trek: TOS" feel to this sort of thing. There's something satisfying to taking what might otherwise be just detritus and making something workable and fun out of it.

Another great video. I cannot wait to see the terrain in action on the table.

Fun terrain, look forward to seeing it on the table. I've found reverse tweazers a wonderful tool for holding wobbly things in place while glue dries.

Great work. I couldn't throw those away though, I keep EVERYTHING in true hoarder style. So looking forward to seeing Cobalt 15 lumber up to some new life form and smash him full in the face! Simple but effective...

A large quantity of foam board arrived here yesterday. Time to see whether my terrain ideas come to fruition.

@@johnscarr70 I’m also thinking that it’s time for a new terrain project over in my game room. And alien terrain sounds like a great idea.

@@dartmart9263 my setting is likely to be sterile to begin. I had the Palitoy cardboard Death Star as a kid and I'm planning a similar, "Tab A into Slot D" floor, walls and doors set up. Using dimensions for corridors / streets / courtyards of A3, A4 and A5 only, I am ready to get out the knife and ruler. I have sketched out scenarios including a coup, which the VP characters find themselves in the middle of and a scavenger hunt in an abandoned robotics factory where searches will be imperilled by the cyborg security still decomposing in some parts of the setting. I will introduce floors and other components over time. I like VP immensely, and I've resisted skirmish games for years, but provided I can gradually and randomly introduce adversaries, rather than both sides being on the table at the outset, I'm more comfortable.

@@johnscarr70 I do like how, when one’s in the thick of it, we forget that reinforcements could still show up at any time from anywhere.

@@dartmart9263 I'm very story-driven and the encounters on the table are hammered into a complementary shape so they fit my narrative. No surprises in my developing setting! I couldn't use the 5 parsecs from home tables, although they have turned up plausible outcomes. I have 2 crew members who ended up as associates as they were attacked in a case of mistaken identity and as one is a droid and the other a short tempered feline they work quite well. The 5 man crew have loosely bonded escaping a coup on the "Scavenger" I haven't decided whether the captain owned the ship or has stolen it. This begs a question as to whether the original crew died in the coup or whether they show up down the line...
