The Joys of Building a Huge Koi Pond in UK Summer ⛈️😢 *Part 7*

In this video I give you a quick run down on the pond build and I also show you how important it is to clean your bottom drain lines. I use a drain hose to clean all the waste from the inside of the pipe and show how it washers back into the drum filter on my koi pond.
Building a koi pond out of breeze blocks is a great way to create a beautiful and functional water feature in your garden. Here are the steps to follow:
1. Choose the location: Select a spot in your garden that is level and receives plenty of sunlight. Make sure the area is free of any underground pipes or cables.
2. Mark out the area: Use stakes and string to mark out the shape and size of your pond. Make sure the dimensions are appropriate for the number of koi you plan to keep.
3. Excavate the area: Dig out the area to the required depth, making sure the sides are sloped to prevent collapse. Remove any rocks or debris from the soil.
4. Lay the foundation: Pour a concrete foundation to provide a stable base for the breeze blocks. Allow the concrete to dry completely before proceeding.
5. Lay the breeze blocks: Use mortar to lay the breeze blocks in place, starting at the corners and working your way around the perimeter. Make sure the blocks are level and plumb.
6. Fibreglass the pond to make it water proof
7. Add the water: Fill the pond with water, making sure the liner is properly positioned and secured. Allow the water to settle for a few days before adding any fish.
8. Install the filtration system: Install a filtration system to keep the water clean and healthy for your koi. This may include a pump, filter, and UV sterilizer.
9. Add the koi: Once the water is properly filtered and conditioned, you can add your koi to the pond. Make sure to acclimate them slowly to prevent shock.
10. Enjoy your new koi pond: Sit back and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of your new koi pond!

Looking good fella, yes mate when I installed my drum I wasn’t even advised on a purge line for my bottom drain and had all sorts of issues . Got a team of guys in and managed to install one and I do it religiously every weekend now, made a massive difference . Personally I think if you concentrate on the water quality the fish look after themselves. I know you probably already know all this but I just wish I had people like yourself on you tube before I built mine I wouldn’t have had half the problems. Good work fella looking forward to each instalment 🎏🎏

Yeah I have a 90 into drum then straight down to level with another 90 to the drain. Was easy enough to run it all the way to the drain..
