Always like to see another pond build. I’m starting to extend my existing pond. The bottom drain you feature in the video - is this the same you have on your site?… good to meet you at the Newark show, looking forward to see how the pond evolves 👍

Just womdered if this was ever completed? Was it not filmed or footage lost? I appreciate it was probably around thvtime of the fire and starting the farm etc. Has the pipework held up and its a working pond? 👍

Hey Marcia, Yep it was around the time of the house fire so Cain continued the build, it’s a stunning pond now

Hi. 1st time I've seen your video. I've got a pond, I cemented concrete garden slabs to the base & sides, so far it's working great, what do you think of that idea? I'm going to extend the pond & was thinking of having g a gradient & laying long drains at the bottom, the type you see around buildings, with the grid on the top, I have a few metre lengths of, will that be OK? My thought are that it will cover the whole width of the pond in several locations. (David, South/East Essex, Havering) 🇬🇧
@TheBaldingReefer Жыл бұрын
Hi David, appreciate the support buddy thank you! Personally I would just use pond bottom drains into a 4 inch or 110mm pipe as you will need the pull of the water buddy

Surely damp laying that ballast and cement would give you a 50% stronger base and also save on all the hassle and weight of water when barrowing through?

Is that soil waste pipe you're using? I wondered if it could be used instead of koi pipe as the price difference is incredible and I figured that it must be pressure pipe as it's used underground on every building site in the country. What fittings do you use with it? TIA x 👍
@TheBaldingReefer2 жыл бұрын
Hi Marcia, it is indeed 110mm house drainage pipe, and we used the house couplings too
@marciabigg4692 жыл бұрын
@@TheBaldingReefer great thanks, look forward to seeing the rest of the build 👍
@madaboutkoi2 жыл бұрын
Feedback….. - should have cut back the sides more / shuttered to prevent soil collapsing on a newly poured floor - drain pipework far to long and too many bends for that length of pipe - nexus filter run typically best at around 8-10000lph. Not fast enough to keep a drain line clean so you need a purge valve. To purge that length of pipework will use a serious amount of water. Will be a right ball ache - did you test the drain pipework with water first to check for leaks before concreting in place. CT1 should not be required if the joints have been done properly (and tested) - sieves come before the nexus not after - 4” base seems very thin for a 3m x 2.5m footprint even with rebar . Although the hardcore base looks good. - a cetus sieve is £645 new not £300
@TheBaldingReefer2 жыл бұрын
Cheers for the feedback buddy, I have a spare ceitus sieve that I’m selling Cain for 300 Pipe work was tested and Cain wanted ct1 as an extra fail safe, not needed I agree, but it’s the customers choice There will be a purge line installed on the bottom drain line The sides were very hard and no risk of collapse and has now been blocked and glassed None of the above is meant in a stroppy reply mate, I appreciate all feedback

Corners cut all over the place 🤦🏼♂️ you’d have been better actually measuring the water you put into the concrete mixes so they were the same on each mix even if you added a certain amount until you got the right consistency.
@TheBaldingReefer2 жыл бұрын
Hi Simon, appreciate your feedback but I don’t feel any corners were cut We showed an honest build and don’t tart anything up for KZbin, all the mixes were very very close to each other with consistency and you’ll see that on the next video instalment, the base turned out really well
