Metalhead here. Although I'm not big into rap/hip-hop, I think we subculture people share our struggles. It's easy to read some lyrics (like Bloodbath - Eaten in case of metal) and think yo these guys are violent freaks who want to _EAT PEOPLE_... like hell no. "Violent" music is an outlet. I can only speak for myself and my friends, but we work stressful jobs and/or are studying hard mayors. I've been listening to insane clown posse since I was about 10 years old. I'm 29 now. I still listen to them here and there. Their old stuff. They should've stopped after the final Jokers Card. Although this kind of media can desensitize you, it doesn't create killers. These people had a screw or many loose already. Such a shame. I remember all the news stations telling my mom not to let me listen to them. I did eventually. On my own will. But the message I got from them wasn't to kill people. And reading Violent J's bio book, it was even much more clear what the music served a purpose for. And they can never be cancelled like everyone else in 2018-2019 and probably the next several years of cancel culture haha.
