I took criminal justice and forensic science in college. Our professor for the criminal justice courses was a retired nypd detective. This was 2007. He suggested we carry a disposable camera for when we were first on scene to get pictures incase the scene is tampered with later from having a million people in and out of the scene. So it sounds plausible that it could just be crime scene photos from a cops relative

This isn't TV-land where Sherlock pops in and solves the crime with brain magic, and it's not CSI where fingerprints are all unique and they get scanned and matched by computers... This is the real world where according to the Murder Accountability Project and Project: Cold Case, in the years from 1980 to 2008 there were 947,521 murders, and only 626,427 of them were solved. That's only 2/3 closure rate leaving 321,094 unsolved "cold" cases. There is no crime scene that goes unphotographed. All those photos end up somewhere. Just because you estimate that it's unlikely doesn't mean it actually is unlikely.

I worked as a police dispatcher for a small town (under 5000 population) with a very small police force. We did not have an official investigator for every crime, my police officers investigated all crimes of any nature. When taking pictures of the scene, often the initial ones had no measurements or any indication they were taken by police. They were just of the scene generally, of the body, of the face, etc taken on their work-issued iPhones. There is a chance these photos were from police databases or evidence lockers, and not the personal property of a serial killer.

We have potential first names for two other victims, correct? Plus, we know one of the victims was killed in Nevada. On top of that, if the poster had a graduation photo of Shauna, in order to get their hands on that photo, they would have to have either known her, or attended the same school of her. This is a definite start. What needs to be done is an investigation into missing persons' cases both in Nevada, and the states surrounding Nevada, and search for cases about women using the list of names. It's possible there's a match. I'm not an expert or anything, but there is still a trail to be followed.

i used to work at a photo lab, one in the top 5 for the country. firstly i knew a bunch of people that would steal pictures from work, usually just artwork kinda stuff, then they would put that in there backpack or bag, then they would send in through the system that they needed another reprint. secondly police would send in crime scene photos pretty often, they always came through with a discretion sign on them. so what i could possibly see is somebody working at a photo lab could wait till a police order came through and he could just print a few extra and take them home and literally nobody would ever know

I remember following this post while it was happening in September 2015. I was bored and decided to go to /b/ for a bit. At first I thought it was some prank, but things were pretty serious. The OP was super confident that nobody could trace him and was acting playful, in a very sick way. However, if I remember correctly, shortly after one of OP's post, somebody claimed to have found OP's IP. This IP was never posted, but OP never replied again after that, so we thought that that could've been the cause of his sudden disappearence. Sad and disturbing that it was never solved.

After looking over the photos and reading through the threads, I'm kind of confused how *anyone* could think that it was faked..and there is only one piece of evidence needed to prove this: The *"Dying, dying.." "Dead."* portion. If you look at the actual photos (NSFL) the body *IS* in a different position in the photos. In the "Dying" photos, he has his arm up like he's weakly trying to move. His head and mouth are in a specific, controlled position. In the second photo, the positioning of his head and mouth have moved, while his arms are not visible. His head has fallen sideways and his lip is drooping down, whereas in the first photo it appeared to be more rigid and controlled. Also, in the first photo, there is fresh blood on and near him. In the second photo, the blood on his face is dry and flaking, and the pool of blood around his head is *much* bigger. Those minor details are incredibly important and prove that the photos were taken during *and* after the dying process. Shit is fucked up, but I'm 100% convinced that it was legit.

I remember this guy! I was one of the people who lurked around the archives to try to help identify him. Last I checked was around 2016 I think. He had stopped posting about it a long time ago, and no one could provide much about his photos except that some were police evidence photos and some were images he himself took. And yeah, no one ever identified the last girl, although she looked similar to one of the other girls I think? But it was hard to tell if she was the same woman. There were also multiple people sharing unconnected photos and pretending to be him.

Getting into film development admittedly isn't very difficult. Just factoring in cost of development, you can get a film dev drum + the C41 developing chemicals and bottles to hold them in for roughly $50, and the internet is rife with tutorials on the whole process. The only other major roadblock I can think of would be getting access to a decent scanner as good ones can be several hundreds of dollars, but having not seen the pictures in question myself, he could've just used the scanner on his printer for all I know. That being said, we're still talking about 35mm film, so using your old Epson will undoubtedly leave you with very low-resolution scans. My whole point is that it wouldn't be difficult to take, develop, and share literal snuff films if you really wanted to. You just gotta have a few hundred bucks for upfront costs, then you're pretty much set until you need to buy new chemicals.
