As a Knicks fan this is why I always had a love/hate relationship with Randle. Respect him for choosing to go to NY when we were in a bad place, but man is he a lazy player. Tonight y'all won by 3 but Randle was -13. People that check his stats but don't watch him miss how negative his impact can be. And right now he's shooting 60%. When regression hits and he's doing bad on both sides it'll make you pull your hair out in agony.

I don’t think this is not taking pride, it’s just straight up not really trying much. Lazy effort can be exploitable, as they saw against the Lakers. He’s on a solid ass if not best defensive team in the league, and he chooses not to put in effort to really make it a dominant and essentially unstoppable defense, especially since he can move better across the floor than KAT did, and they don’t need anymore size than him, Rudy, and Naz. He’s not even a major first option or great playmaker or anything on offense, which is worse for him not putting in as much effort defensively. I really don’t get it for legacy purposes and chances of winning. They have a contender of a team that’s possible, particularly if Ant improves, Rudy gets better at a post game, and Randle plays defense

They shouldn't exist in modern basketball. How tf can you expect someone to play positionless ball when they can't even give a half-hearted attempt purely for show guarding their own position for even a quarter? He should be on the pistons in basketball purgatory or in the g league.
@vmurda415

@@thunderstar254 so whats the alternative? A player of randles caliber should be out the league because he's not good at defense? All players have their strengths and weaknesses and for some defense is their weakness. Doesn't mean they're not good players
@thunderstar254
@thunderstar254 Ай бұрын
@@vmurda415 There are definitely varying levels of defensive skill and innate instinct, but defense isn't the same as offense, where that's the primary requirement. Anyone who's ever touched a basketball knows how big a difference maker putting an iota of effort in is. At literally any other level of competition, he would be benched for his body language alone, let alone defensive _effort._ Again, everyone has their weaknesses but if your biggest weakness is _effort,_ you shouldn't be in the NBA. Can you imagine answering this way in a job interview in any other field? "So what's your biggest weakness?" You and randle: "Giving any amount of effort."

This break down was spot on. As a Knick fan I can tell you Randell doesn't really start playing until like December. It's as if the first few weeks he is getting into basketball shape. He's a great offensive talent but refuses to play defense at times. He's also very temperamental, if he doesn't score on the first few possessions you can forget about him setting screens or passing to his teammates. Wait till you guy see he doesn't contest any shots near the basket, especially on a rotation. He'll just like the offensive player dunk... Anyways, good luck Minni..lol

You can't win with guys who are only out there to pad their offensive stats. He's been that way since he came into the league and has never changed. And not coincidently he's never won anything everywhere he's been. The Knicks actually got better when he got hurt last year.
@Michael_Page
@Michael_Page Ай бұрын
Randle does what he's incentivized to do. Individual accolades like All star and All NBA are determined largely by points, rebounds, and assists. He's paid 30 million per year because he's a 25/10/5 player. His habit of closing out lazily helps his statline because he's often in better position to grab a defensive rebound if he's defending poorly. He also doesn't care about turning the ball over, will often shoot you out of a game, doesn't take charges, and gets very few steals/blocks. But he will get those points, rebounds, and assists.

Great analysis. You can see in this video how a super-talented player--a 24-10-5 guy--gets traded a bunch of times like nobody wants him. I feel like the Wolves won this trade bc they got DiVincenzo, a chip-level role player, whereas KAT and Julius are the same player.

@@edgardchow Randle is not far from it, and in some ways better. But it’s not as thought they didn’t exactly want to pay KAT. His salary was extremely high was, he was good last season and great in at least the first two rounds of the Playoffs, but was very bad in the WCF a lot, and yet Rudy got blamed (Rudy does need to get his offensive game up, tho). He’s been there many seasons and people have seen how he played and if he was worth it, and shopping him around has been on their minds for a minute. I agree it would have been a great team, but KAT would need to really evolve to get there. Now, they’re more so building around Ant specifically with Rudy as their main defensive hub

Randle is coming off an injury and clearly is working to get back up to peak. He has never been a top help defender but effort was not an issue with the Knicks and I suspect as he gets deeper into the flow of the team he will be more active than this video demonstrates. I understand the take but Randle’s time in NY was underrated and I think he will balance the upside on offense with passable defense over time. Another area that will take some time to develop as he gets comfortable with new team is playmaking. He can be valuable as a distributor but that hasn’t developed fully with Wolves yet.

It’s a winning culture. Every play matters, full effort always matters, being a good teammate matters, never giving up on a play or a game matters. Wolves are screwed. He will be poisonous to that locker room. Cavs saw the same characteristics in Porter Jr and despite his talent sent him packing. Im so glad hes off the Knicks, just thinking of the firestorm that would ensue in NY if he tried to yell at Brunson once this season after what JB did last season. He’d get pelted with concessions.

Hi @Daniel Li please do a video on the Bucks and their now awful defense. Is it a lack of effort or the Damian Lillard effect?

season 11 and he’s still the same player on the defensive end. atp it’s gonna be hard to change his ways + earning 29m a year.

He is on on par or better thatvKat offensively... defence i dont really know if Kats better.. it seems more of an effort thing

His offence is horrendous too. See him waving the 7 foot plus Gobert with the seal on a midget a foot away from the basket so he could take his mismatch on one on one from the 3 pt line. Basketball is a team sport (the NBA isn't Basketball.. I know)

The video is really good as always men, but if you want to grow you need to upload them closer to the game in the video, this game was legit a week ago so obviously a lot of people won't be interested as it is not more recent, just an advice to help the channel grow with more people

honestly, if I was with Timberwolves, I would like to trade I’m away for more bench pieces because Naz Reid could totally start and he would fit way better not only is he a better shooter but he’s overall better athlete then Randall and isn’t nearly as ball dominant but there’s not many teams I would really want Randall

I was so excited about the trade before the season. Randle is making me nervous now. Doesn't seem he wants to be in a team system.

This is why he was traded. When he's winning, it's okay, but when the team is down. Randle disappears. Randle believes that as long as he tries once he's okay. He will never do the extra work.

Surely no one seriously thought the Wolves made the trade to get Randle? They very obviously made the trade to get off Kat's contract. whatever they can squeeze out of Randle in the meantime before they trade him is a bonus. If any of the 29 other teams are honest with themselves the chip is very much Boston's to lose for now. They are so very clearly the best team in the league it really isn't close. This Minni team is still pretty young they still have some time to build around Ant while he continues to get better.

That trade might be the end of the Twolves. It looked so promising until Randle arrived for KAT.
