Remember that all fingers are not the same. There was that time my parents struggle to pay rent because of expenses and there this time i paid full year and also add some extra amount for my mum landlord even before the old rent expired. I pay light bill same day i pay house rent for full year , just praying to GOD to help me, so i finish my house for my mum to pack in. I don't want a tenant but i build it big so i can help people who can't pay rent like us back then.

This is so annoying.. The feeling of entitlement bewilders me beyond my reality. I used to know a police officer(Mr. Bassey) that is a family friend.. We gave him an empty self-contain which is one of our apartments. He was living rent free for atleast 15-20yrs as i witnessed his ingratitude as an adolescent. He was notified for eviction because my mother was getting remarried n the family wants her to hv her privacy as the new husband wasn't buoyant enof at the moment, hence to reduce pressure on the new couples.. They were asked to move.. Mr. Bassey didn't take it well as iy took him almost a year to give in... Upon it, he vandalized things in the house to make the new couples uncomfortable for removing him. He also never paid NEPA bill and it accumulated for years... My mum had serious issues with NEPA as she addressed she was a new occupant n she wasn't liable for the outrageous bills... Nevertheless, she was disconnected for at least 2yrs bexause of this. I'm from a noble family naturally wired to b compassionate hence ppl take us for a ride n do as they want. . They kn we will let all slide dir peace to reign... Shaaa that ended in my parents'era.. Now,Iam the direct opposite of that attitude. U will get it the way u want it.. Physical fight, verbal abuse, court case, cultist involvement, and spiritual battle, I'm totally in FULLTIME. "No peace for the wicked" 😂 is my humble motto.

Nigerians will pay any amount to rent house ,and after the expiration of that rent they won't pay again. Better to build personal house instead of building for commercial purposes. Nigerians don't want to pay rent because the justice system always support tenant at the expense of landlord. Tenants do evils and get away with it. They do with impunity because they say Fashola law covers them. Thank God for the emergence of this court. At least landlord will be able to get justice now

I think the Nigerian legal system needs serious intervention, the verdict in this case was emotionally decided - "again". Technically the plaintiff got a very raw deal, 4 months notice granted to the defendant and without paying rent is terrible considering that he's already owing. A month notice could have been very practical, the property owners are losing money!

Sorry but if the case comes to court isn’t the judge meant to order him out or get bailiffs to remove him? Why is it being negotiated? Secondly why is the landlords daughter foregoing the money owed? The judge should have still compelled him to pay. He’s acting like he’s entitled to live there. It’s unfair that he is allowed to stay and accrue further rent at their expense. Let the government or the court house him. It’s not really the landlords problem.

In a sane society, he won't even last long living rent free. In the USA, after you are given eviction notice and taken to court and you don't vacate, whatever happens to your properties are at your own risk. You will just go to work and see your things outside with locks changed. Them no go tell you.

Is this tenant treating them with disrespect because they are women? So because it’s a landlady, not a landlord, is that why he has been turning them left and right, up and down for how many years? I am sure he is working and making money. He is being very smart.

The plaintiffs are thieves. Don’t give tenants false hopes when you want them out. Clearly he didn’t understand. For the fact he mentioned there are other tenants having the same issues with these people. Sham

Honestly, the way the judge admonished the young lady for going to the police station first, is very unfair, as if the lady is supposed to know the it's a civil matter besides the judiciary was on strike at the time and the police directed the lady on the right path. Secondly asking the lady to call her mum (to ask if she will be okay with extending additional month for this "entitled" dishonorable tenant) feels like she was pressuring the lady. Looks like people think landlords pluck money from trees to build house 🏡 in Nigeria.

100%. You said exactly what I wanted to say. The case was biased. Judge did not understand where the owners were coming from at all at all.
