Really, how come we grew up feeling so entitled? This is just one of the many examples of how we get condescending on those doing us favours. No one owe us anything in life. Let us be grateful and humble when people help us in our private lives and not feel they should have helped us anyway. In business, let us start respecting the sanctity of contracts as transactions with legal consequences. We can't be owing and still act like our debtors should understand why we are unable to pay notwithstanding the reason(s) for non-payment. It does not matter whether you used the money to save someone else. Yes, it doesn't matter. If you are owing, then pay up as agreed. Business money owed to another is not yours to spend.
