So I got mine today. It is replacing my previous daily driver for KZbin/casual listening - the AKG 371. The AKG literally fell apart after 3 years of heavy, heavy usage so no hard feelings there. Initial impressions are that the FT-1 does exactly what it is intended for. Very light, very comfy, very easy to drive (loud enough out of the laptop socket, bonkers loud with the Qudelix K5) and very good fun. Not the biggest fan of the oldshool-looks but I guess after a couple of ZMFs I'm kinda spoiled with regards to woody-cans. Surprise so far - there is actually some detail ;-) We will see about the "fine-print" but this could be a keeper. P.S.: somebody hurry please with Qudelix EQ-preset for this :-)

I own both, and the FiiO is better. The HD620s definitely competes sound-wise and is built better, but the FiiO is a much better value and is more comfortable.
@rene8375 күн бұрын
@JeffreyChandler I noticed some odd qualities in the midrange and treble on the HD620S. For some reason, vocals were a bit honky and the treble was dark on some tracks but bright on others. I also dont like the big pads because the position of the headphones on your ears can change the sound, and it's hard to get a consistent position with those big openings.
@quackgarage95512 күн бұрын
Not only with the AKG line. I bought one since literally everyone was highly praising it, it's better than my D7200 and I miss almost nothing if compared to my Z1R. Fiio has set the new threshold for audio quality, this is an enormous leap in the audio world. It's insane to think it costs $150. If we think 5 or even 2 years ago, you would have to spend 4 digits to get anywhere this build and audio quality. Hell, even today. IEM's already went through this phenomena, but now this is a major breakthrough in the headphone world.

"Take with a grain of salt" is generous. Zeos is a man who owns how many dollars worth of audio gear? $50k? $100k? More? And yet his opinions are more closely calibrated to someone who has just had ear surgery and is excited to be hearing for the first time. Viewers see all the gear from his head mounted camera and assume "He must have SOME idea what he's talking about," but then they eventually, hopefully find out that they were wrong. I don't think it's unreasonable to say that he does more harm than good, because I know that if I woke up one day and found out that I had a track record of promoting some of the gear he has promoted, giving who knows how many people who needed that one last push they needed to place an order, then I would feel guilty about it bigtime. There is theoretically a dollar amount you could put to the regretful purchases that people have made thanks to all his gushing over seriously underwhelming equipment, and in total you know it would be no small amount.

This headphone and the Aune AR5000 are my wishlist contenders when I get some income in the future. I know it's open back vs closed back and price is very different, but I'd love a sound impression comparison between the two one day by anyone willing. I think my main desire is musicality and immersion. The reviews on the AR5000 say it's almost an A shape sound with the mids forward, but elevated bass compared to something like the Sennheiser 600 sound profile. That sounds perfect to me.

@@hubey I like the detailed sound and don't mind less bass, but since the FiiO FT1 was really spoiled with that great textured bass. I have had Sennheiser HD 650s for long, then switched over Beyers (DT 770 PRO) for more excitement. (also tried loads of Hifiman and Focal headphones...) I must say I was really impressed by the Aune AR5000 in the beginning. Especially with live instrument music. Then started to miss the bass more an more. But the mid range and the tonality is nice if you after that sound signature. It will have a more bass, much more open and engaging sound than a HD600.
@hubeyАй бұрын
@@kutasimusic Thank you again for another thoughtful response! I had the cheaper Fiio JT1's because of enthusiastic youtube reviews, but I hated the sound. It sounded muffled but sibilant at the same time. The mids sounded so quiet and far away like they were coming from the neighbours house. They made music feel sad. EQing helped, but still felt distant overall. I was so shocked by the sound after good reviews by others. So now I'm doing more homework before more internet purchases. So do you own or have listened to the FT1's? Do you love the sound? I do love bass, a lot of bass actually, like in a movie theater with rumbling synth bass score. But I also want to hear melodies from piano and guitar and vocals in the mids to treble range too. I don't want them to be muffled, distant or sibilant, just musically resolved and forward enough sounding at the same time as some bass. Do you think the Fiio FT1's will statisfy these musical desires? Thank you for your time and consideration. 😊🙏
@kutasimusicАй бұрын
@@hubey Hmmm… this is interesting. I haven’t heard the JT1, but owned the FT1 for a couple of months. To be honest, I liked the sound from the beginning but after a long period of time started to think that I might had too much of Beyer headphones and was just wishing for a more relaxed listening experience. First the FT1 felt like an “echo chamber” or concert hall to me, but somehow that sensation disappeared (or I got used to it). Now, I can tell that the JT1 might not be your cup of tea if you prefer detailed sound. I don’t think that it’s a dark headphone, but after a long time I spent with it I just started to miss a more transparent and cleaner sound. This is the most noticeable with voices (either male or female). It’s a bit hard to understand them and they are less articulate. Watching movies or playing games feels fun and the bass is excellent, but it’s a one trick pony. You won’t find too much excitement in other areas and I wished my DT 770 Pro back. So, We have a nice slam in the bass, recessed mid range and okay highs. In general it sounds distant and eventually I found it a bit boring after trying it with different usages. This is not always a bad thing though. I still think the FT1 is a nice looking and comfy headphone. If you are not that critical or as a second (or third headphone) you can live with it and have some fun with certain tracks. Anyways, I am still on the journey for the perfect closed-back... 😊

As someone who has a pretty nice treated studio with genelec monitors, but mixes and masters manly from home because i am lazy as fuck: jes you can. I dont have these headphones but the key is this, get whatever you deem flattest, buy it, than use an eq thing on your computer ouput and eq the headphone by ear, by listening to your favorite songs. Some electro or modern metal is usually good to judge bass impact. Really spend a day or to to eq them until you cant improve them anymore. Than mix on them. (One extra thing to be mindful about. Beware of reverb. On headphones and inears you always always add to much reverb, so use a little less than it will sound better on headphones and speakers). And dont let boomers tell you you cant mix on headphoens. I would even argue its better becouse most people listen on headphones anyways, so thats what you serve for the most.

How does it compare to the DCA x DROP aeon closed ?? Was about to pull the trigger on the dca, but how big of a difference exist ? 🧐🤔
@Smitty_Werbenjagermanjenson2 ай бұрын
I haven't heard these FiiO's but I have the Aeon closed and think they are excellent, FWIW. However, they are much more expensive too.
@TheHEADPHONEShow2 ай бұрын
The Aeon are MUCH better built, more premium, and feel more articulated/detailed across the frequency range, but the fiio have a more comfortable sound signature.

I really like the k371 and use them for tracking but the fact that it only connects on one side AND is really telephonic is a huge problem, can't wait to try these and hopefully make them my new recommendation for friends.

When I first got my K371, I couldn't believe how bad the stock cables are. I got an inexpensive Faaeal cable (it has that "IEM" cable look), and it is a major improvement for comfort.
