Aside from the *fucking brilliant narrator* (seriously, where did they find this guy?), I kinda admire the dub for making these characters sound like... normal teenagers instead of the cool, calm, and calculating anime villains they're trying to be. Gives the show a different, more chaotic vibe that I think jives with the western audience better, and it lets them skirt around the usual cultural hiccups that come with dubbing JP idioms for EN audiences.

It reminds me a lot of the English dub for Are You Willing to Date a Pervert as Long as She's Cute (Long name I know lmao) where the dub of that show was actually way funnier than the original. Not quite the case here, but they make the characters talk like they're actually young people vibing with the memes of youth in today's standards. It's done better in the example show I gave, but they both do a good job of making the characters feel believable in that regard.

I thought the dub was super enjoyable! I've seen the sub 2 1/2 times through and love it I also enjoy the dubbing process and a lot of the regular voice actors with funimation. The idea that dubs are automatically bad is so so outdated. Most of the time people just feel weird hearing new and different voices for the characters they're already attached to. The voice actors that worked on this dub did very well and I can't wait for them to do season 1 as well.

I think the problem I have now, is more that for both Japanese and American dubs, It's the same voice actors and actresses... Not... I just wrapped up English season 2 today & I gotta say... watching the whole thing makes me wish Kaguya's disturbingly specific post-election rant was in this vid. The one where she goes, *"He's like a typical good-for-nothing husband whose wife works a part-time job every night, but then he takes her money and uses it for gambling, sex workers, and BOOOOOOZE!"* That part had me in like 20 stitches. 🤣
