I never really noticed the secondary motif (ex: 3:40) until listening to this, and honestly it gives me more dread than the main more popular one for some reason. The fact that it’s the music that plays when we see Newt explaining the truth behind what the kaiju really are helps the theme feel more like it better encapsulates the kaiju’s essence, and the fear associated with their nature. Not to mention the music of said mentioned scene already gave me chills before I knew it was a legit kaiju theme.

I agree, I loved the music because it somehow reminded me of some works of Ifukube. Sometimes I wonder what could be the reaction of the fathers of the Kaiju Eiga: Ishiro Honda, Eiji Tsuburaya, Tomoyuki Tanaka, and of course Akira Ifukube (among some others) to the recent resurgence of kaiju in popular media. I like to think that, at least, regarding the music, they'd be proud.
