As an anime only person, HxH felt stuck in time just after the ant arc until just recently. Over the last few weeks I've been binging this guys videos and I never expected the world to be this deep and well realized. I'm really enjoying this journey Togashi wants to take us on. I never considered for a second how far removed and divorced from Gon and Killua this could become.

It's been an extremely long time since Gon has had anything to do in the story. Really several arcs. Gon was a key part of the election arc, but didn't really do anything in the arc. So last time he was center stage was the Ant arc. The beginning of the Election arc was I think 2011, which is also the last anime timeframe. So we've been Gon-less for over a decade.

Well, we're still dealing with the other 2 OG main characters; Kurapika and (kind of) Leorio. Kurapika's hardly been in the story for a very long time, so in a way this is kind of a return to form, to have him as the protagonist for a change for the first time since Yorknew.

I think it’s insane that the mafia thinks they can control the Troupe at all. Even more insane that they think they can kill the Troupe. Chrollo is likely already in tier one. And the rest of the Troupe has split up entirely. There is really only three troupe members helping them, and they’re just using it as a warm up. The rest of the troupe is doing who knows what. And they could 100% wipe out the majority of people on that ship whenever they decided to get serious about doing so.

Imagine it's the last chapter before another Hiatus... Hisoka is fighting spiders, 4th prince is mastering Nen, how will the chapter end???? During the fight with the Spiders, Hisoka runs into the prince and his Nen beast attacks! Then Hisoka instakills Tserri cause his ugly pets interrupted his fun. End of Chapters for 2-3 years. Edit: I mean... that's how I'd do it but I'd go on hiatus after a good chapter just to watch the fanbase freak out.

This is going to end with kurapika and chrollo making a three part choice. Kurapika will need to kill chrollo, retrieve the eyes or protect the baby. Chrollo is going to find out the prince is responsible for sarasa's murder, and he will need to choose between killing hisoka, killing kurapika the chain user or avenging surasa. Most likely with the ship sinking, the prince will escape while everyone is fighting for revenge.
