People don't seem the understand he word Origin. The Kanjo and the Honda's are primarily what started the JDM/USDM scene we see today, especially since it is all in Japan. Many ignorant people in the comments talking shit about Honda and claiming that they have a fast car don't seem to understand, without the Japanese, we wouldn't have the JDM culture we see today, therefore, grow up and appreciate the machinery the Japanese have blessed us with IF you are a true driver that claims to love Japanese cars.
@sheshd10 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with the part about respecting all Japanese cars, but kanjo primarily inspired the JDM scene elsewhere?? Based on what? One guy in this video? You must not of heard of touge, or real Japanese circuit which in turn inspired Japanese mods.
@esdrubaldino10 жыл бұрын
sheshd Then you didn't understand what the guy was about. Doing what they do or doing Touge is as JDM as it gets. Like he said, they do the Loop because of the Suzuka Circuit, and as You may not know, many of the Japanese cars were originated in Suzuka (mostly Hondas, but not only those), and so it might be originated in the Loop, but the Touges, which are in the mountains, is just another place to do exactly the same thing
@sheshd10 жыл бұрын
+esdrubaldino Do you even read? I never doubted that this is not JDM. I'm saying it's not what primarily inspired it. Also this guy is about preservation of one specific type of racing hence his views are subjective.
@DENNYPkingoftown10 жыл бұрын
sheshd I said PRIMARILY inspired so there is other places around Japan where Japanese modifications are popular but Honda's in Japan are what really allowed for the JDM/USDM field to bloom since it was a cheap, affordable, reliable, gas saving, yet stylish car, therefore, everybody could afford one and really modify it, in addiction, like I said previously, that is how JDM/USDM really grew. I do know what Touge is and yes Touge is most likely the majority of JDM/USDM especially since drifting was introduced within that 'section' so to speak.
@esdrubaldino10 жыл бұрын
sheshd I could ask you the same thing :). Anyway, like Mr.Evo wrote, there's not much left to say.

Growing up in Japan I've been through so much shit in the local community as you folks do in the US too. Yeah we have JDM, anime, sushi, technology whateves there but it doesn't make it a unrealistic heaven on earth you may expect us to be. Sorry to say, that's your illusion. We don't respect each other deep down. Just being told to act prudish in public. Grateful everyone goes crazy over our culture, there's something yet to see behind it. @carbonfiber4928 жыл бұрын
I talk shit about shitvics because there slow and don't handle that great and because Honda owners are knobs generally never forget destroying a vtec swapped eg through a tight section of road in my old satria gti(basically a 3dr mirage) when it still had stock suspension all I had done to mine was played with cam and ignition timing they guy came in to work a couple weeks later for a inspection bracing about having a heap of work done to it I just moved my car into the workshop n he shut up another time had a eg owner claim he ran a 12 second pass but somehow he couldn't keep up with my current stock auto Mitsubishi wagon admittedly it does have a tt v6 in it but is completely factory spec lol
Putting the cars aside, their mindset of keeping the legacy alive and setting the example, is what amazes me the most. I hope one day I can get to fully understand and live to that meaning.

It's not always about who has the biggest and baddest engine dropped into a gorgeous body of steel or how fast you can go in a straight line. It's really just about what you find a passion in whether it's drag racing, drifting, building/rebuilding cars, joy riding, or anything really. It's just so overwhelming because I've been engulfed into both worlds now.

I think age has a lot to do with it. They even mention in the video they used to fight when they were younger. In the past they were probably fighting for some kind of pride, now they're just glad there are others keeping the tradition alive. Same happens in the US, in high school everyone is trying to be hot shit when it comes to racing, whereas when you get older into your 30's everyone is just glad people came out to an autocross or track day to have someone to drive with and race against. It becomes less about being #1 and more about having a good time.

I don't mind Japanese people driving Hondas. They normally do it right (Though there are a few exceptions). You can tell these cars have been upgraded and are genuinely fast. It's AMERICANS driving Hondas that pisses me off. A new body kit, fart cannon, stickers covering your car, and shitty black rims, and you still haven't upgraded the engine. That's the difference between Japanese and American drivers - one actually knows how to upgrade the engine.

In Tokyo, we have Mid Night Club. In Osaka, we have the Kanjozoku. Japan’s street racing scene is sure great and beautiful
Honda Civic handling saved my life one night when i young and stupid. I went up over a slight slope at 100kmph and just spotted the crossing curb right in front of me in the middle of the road. I had half a second to make a quick shuffle to the left and the Civic did it like mind body and machine were one. Never again.

sad you sold it mate. sweet looking cars. ill keep my EK for a long while, it never let me down. reliable and cheap. ill keep it nice and stock. no spoilers for this EK! but look on honda communities, there must be an EF for sale for a good prize! but buy it from a real fan, otherwise you end up buying junk :/ (well thats with all cars)
I love my civic. Japan 🇯🇵 has a special place in my heart, and I love that wether I'm here in Colorado, USA or in Japan I have people that enjoy the Honda lifestyle.

This is one of many reasons I love my 1989 Honda Civic Si Hatchback! Besides it being all original (Including the original Honda Championship White Paint) it is rare and has history. I'll never part with my 89 Si...

people keep bashing hondas because they're slow. well in a drag race or even a top speed run against whatever car you want to put them against sure they wont win unless heavily modified for that specific reason, but thats not the spirit of the civic. the civic was designed for tight circuits and thats where its brilliance lies its a cheap car to obtain and maintain all you need is a solid suspension and some sticky tires and you could have a blast with a stock engine down a winding back road or a circuit. i could almost guarantee that if you brought whatever car you wanted (with in reason) to the civics turf it would have trouble keeping up with the civic. and if anyone has anything to say about this come meet me in the mountain ill show you what a civic could do.

SpecialED77tag the civics handle well also..at least the EF, EG, EK hatches, CRX's, and integras. There's a guy with supercharged EF hatch that runs a couple of the canyons here in SoCal

Everyone hates on Honda, and I hate them too. But Honda's CAN be fast, and they handle better than 90% of the cars you will find driving around. I can see why these guys use Civics and shit for this, cheap, fastish, and handle good. Like they said, they're light, can stop on a dime. It's an all around good car, you can have the whole package with any car for a cheap price.

every country has it's own iconic hatchback, Japan in general likes the old Civic and Corollas, Italy is famed for it's old Lancias, Alfa Romeos and Germany has the Golf only, every other German hatchback came very late. There is nothing wrong with a Civic or a Honda, I think people just want to hate for no reason
@Powaup10 жыл бұрын
A lot of people here in the US (specially LA) have given the civic a bad reputation putting on hideous body kits, outrageous mods etc and i think that is one of the reasons a lot of people hate civics

Agree with Powaup. Literally 90% of the Hondas I see anymore are riced out as fuck. Retarded kits, or stickers and vinyl shit or wings. Makes all Honda guys look bad really.
@DSM907Maniak10 жыл бұрын
Powaup Yea i personally don't have a problem with Hondas as a car but their owners are typically ignorant ricers who think they are fast because they have an intake and fart cannon muffler. I've been in a few fast hondas and they can be impressive. Although the whole fail wheel drive thing will always hold them back. S2k, cool car because RWD

5:28 he says that the scene was a lot bigger in the past and I feel like this is very true because when I see videos on racing on the kanjo or any highway it’s not like how it used to be you know I personally wouldn’t know I wasn’t born in that time but idk just something about that makes me wonder what it would be like if I was born during that time and got to experience it

the car at the end sound properly tuned. Simply amazing. There is no rice at all in this video.
Usually only people who know very little about the car scene and technical stuff, hate on Hondas.. If you actually know something about cars, you wouldn't hate on Honda.. In fact, from the 80s up until the early 2000's, it was the only engines to make so much horsepower, out of so little displacement and NO turbo! That's why Honda Engines shit on Ferrari's, Lambo's, Mercs, BMWs, Mustangs, Chevy's you name it.. :-P Honda is the best engine in the world.

Only on those amazingly paved highways you can drive race cars like those ones. Those Civics have a track ready kind of build. I couldn't imagine to put one of them on a typical Italian highway.
