Eugene Timothy: I know, I've never really had good hearing due to a ear operation many years ago, now after further problems I have no hearing in my right ear and I would estimate about 25% in the left ear, you really don't know what you have until it's gone.

Thanks so much this! My younger brother is hearing impaired and throughout his life he has decided to keep his hearing aids instead of going for a cochlear implant. But seeing the new technology that is available in this new version and that it is covered by medicaid made me share this with him. Thanks for everything you're doing!

Wow. I actually use the Nucleus 7 processor from Cochlear Americas (and yes that’s how they spell it) because I have profound bilateral hearing loss. (I was born without hearing. I had 5% hearing when I was born which means that I can’t hear the jet engines even if I was right next to it.) I can actually hear now and actually speak and hear clearly because of them.

My first was a 6 processor, then 7 and no 8 and a 2. I love having two to switch around. These are game changer for the deaf. I got my first hearing aid in my early 20’s. It’s sad seeing people still struggling with hearing aid.

Jesus I still find it hard to believe how much Cochlear evolved over time. I had 1997 Sprint Speech Processor as my first cochlear when i was little, then had have no box, just ear piece and magnetic, now it's earless, it's crazy how time changed and evolved. Also Kanso 2 isn't the only cochlear that can be controlled by the smartphone, Nucleus 7 can also be controlled by smartphone. I have Nucleus 7.

Interesting as hell! The days of augmenting your body with electronics are here! I want 240hz eye balls!

If we have ability to see above 240hz then surely we have eyeballs capable of viewing more than 240hz right? 🤔
@Carboxylated4 жыл бұрын
@@absk601 some people have the sensitive eye sight needed to see the frequency...not all. Some people cannot even notice higher frame rates let alone higher frequencies. Others can see higher than 360hz according to some test. Bottom line, no we do not, on a level basis, have the ability to see 240hz across the board. Imagine an eyeball transplant in which you can dial in your visual representation of the world according to the hz you input/output your visuals from physical to brain.
@houssamalucad7534 жыл бұрын
@@Carboxylated almost everyone say the difference between 144 and 60hz is huge, most say that 240hz is slightly smoother than 144, and few people can tell the difference between 240 and 360.

I underwent ci surgery 11/22, recovery is a bit longer , & there’s also vertigo and equilibrium issues that can be 2+ months after surgery . Most people experience it. My kanso2 is on and I am able to hear like a robotic. I can’t listen to music yet or talk through it yet. I lost my hearing due to croup/covid omicron. I will need a hearing aid on my other ear- that one is $1800 that works w/ kanso2. My ins won’t cover it. Bit overall even though I still am having issues with vertigo and balance- it’s worth it to me to be able to even hear a noise. They said because I’m so no new to it. It’s gonna take me probably close to a year to be able to actually hear a lot of things but I am OK with that. I do train it. I did watch the episode on TV with the cochlear/Bluetooth along with the app. My right ear plug I can understand it in robotics but when I try to listen to music I can’t hear anything at this point so I would say definitely talk to your ENT and see which option is best.

whoa - i didn’t expect this device be a device that required surgery! it makes me wonder how it is designed to keep up with technology - I assume the “dock” will remain standard and you just upgrade the processor when the time comes?
@mariaaroeira95754 жыл бұрын
A chip is placed behind the ear and an electrode wire inside the cochlea in ear surgery. The technology upgrade takes place with the replacement of the external device that communicates with the internal chip by radio waves. The internal chip is not exchanged, but the external device. I am a cochlear implant user. With each device change, it improves programming, filters and connectivity with the computer or cell phone. I have friends with 20 years of using the cochlear implant and they can use all the current technologies, because the cochlear implant brands work for all users to have technology compatibility with the internal chip.

Why was the cost question never answered? Also, why didn't you explain how cochlear implants work so people would understand why surgery is necessary. This isn't some trendy off-the-shelf tech, recipients literally have to go through extensive rehabilitation to re-train their brains how to hear. Additionally, doesn't Med-el also offer a streaming wireless OTE product? Please do a comparison of the Rondo 3 if you're going to delve into the CI world.
