This train jargon is a unique language. Places, junctions, tunnels, towers,....all special to the train industry. Fascinating. Thanks for this post.

The framerate for these films from the 50s, 60s, and 70s looks as if it was recorded with a camera from the 80s or 90s. Absolutely unreal.

I noticed how those low blat horns (Leslie A200?) were common in the 50's and 60's but most railroads today including class 1's and Amtrak use the Nathan multi chime horns. Conrail used Leslie 3 chimes on most of it's diesels from late 70's to 1980's and maybe 1990's.

With a live sound and without the music and the comments behind it would be perfect. For the moment without the sound, it's going. Very nice video, very beautiful pictures.

I have to say, I think this stuff would be much better without the digital frame smoothing. Looks a little unnatural and lowers the sharpness of the film. Great stuff though, especially Mike Bednar's commentary!

Thank You John , I grew up in Philly in the late 60's early 70's but i never saw one of these type units working trains or switching in that area , Most Pennsy local ans switch work was done using RS 3 or SW model units , never any center cabs !

@vzjtothalo1 5 жыл бұрын
@@way75mit9 no problem. These were 1st generation units and mostly gone by that time. The closest they came to Philly was working in Norristown (there is another video here on the Tube with that) and at least once down here on the Pemberton branch.
