The Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihotri talks about how he got the idea of making a film about 1990 Kashmir exodus. After deciding to make film on that issue, Vivek and his team started research work. Instead of doing secondary research they went for the primary sources. Primary sources included interview with the first generation victims of that exodus/genocide. Surendra Kaul's Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora helped them reach those people.
