My dad is Retd. Air man. He was there when all this happened. When my friends and I came back after watching this movie, at the same time Dad was just back from the work and he frankly asked 'how was the movie'' and we started chatting. My dad explained each and every scene even before we said anything. He explained how things were, those hanging bodies on the trees, streets full of blood. We were there looking at him and thinking that we just saw the movie and it was so hard for us, how much hard it would've been to him for just being there.

Question : why didn't government do anything for kashmiri hindus at that time. Answer : Because idea of secularism is such in India that taking action against those who do crime is seen as target against minorities. It is still relevant in today's India not just in kashmir but in bengal also. In last few days some kashmiri pandits have been murdered by extremists although removal of article 370 and strong leadership in the centre has improved things by far.

Every character in the movie is based on real character. Every incident and even dialogues are real quotes in this movie. As it is difficult to showcase every story out of tens of thousands, the director decided to combine the characters to showcase one person character. Like Brahma Dutt is basically the combination of the governor, police and administration, the media, Dr Mahesh Kumar is all the support functions like hospitals, doctors, fire department, tax and other services etc, journalist Vishnu Ram is representation of all the media thats why he is sometimes positive sometimes negative in hiding the truth on what was happening there (part of the jihad empathizing cabal) etc. Sharda is the condition of Hindu women (also representation of Goddess Saraswati - Goddess of knowledge, music and other artforms and main goddess of Kashmir and their people (as it was an academic powerhouse of India in ancient times), Pushkarnath is representation Hindu men, Sharda's son Shiva representation of condition of Hindu children and symbolic representation also the past and future as Lord Shiva, who resided mainly in Kashmir and Tibet amd most importantly Krishna is representation of today's youth in universities who is being brainwashed against our own, the real truth by the university professors of JNU Delhi, Jadhavpur University - Bengal and a similar across the country. Urban Naxals are using college student propagate maoists communists and Islamists propaganda which takes to armed fights and jihad. The intellingentia and sold out media then hides or creates false cover up narratives to sheild such marauders and perpetrators of genocide, mass rape, ethnic cleansing & exodus of Hindus (not just Kashmiri hindus). This model is used elsewhere in India but with limited success except of red corridor of naxalites (central india - armed Maoists communists movements from last 40 years). Recommended and interesting books: Breaking India - by US based Rajiv Malhotra Urban Naxals - by dorector of The Kashmir Files Vivek Agnihotri Our moon has blood clots - by Rahul Pandita from a first hand victims family.

This movie shows just 5 percent of the atrocities, every incident is inspired from a real event. The rice container incident on the BK Ganjoo murder, the rape on Girja Tikoo, Kashmiri Pandits have faced over 7 exoduses/genocides post independence and before that millions have either been converted or killed since the onset of Islamic invasions. Kashmiri Pandits have been living in Kashmir for over 6000 years of recorded history, even before the birth of Islam, thousands of temples have been destroyed, despite that hundreds are left Most of these incidents were initiated by Muslim civilians and not just terrorists. People who had grown up with Kashmiri Hindus murdered their own teachers ,friends, raped women they once addressed as sisters in law, killed infants, people were cut into pieces, gangraped, hung alive, etc. This movie has toned down the brutality because it wouldn't have been possible to release it

While I believe that both the parties.. BJP and congress was equally responsible for letting this happen... On the other side.. It's also an situational thing... Because Pakistan was funding this terrorism soo intensely..... And government of india don't want to take any wrong step... A single step against these terrorist could had caused us lossing our kashmir to Pakistan... And top of all... Yes atrocities do happened in past... But instead of putting blame game one should focus on relief work 1st...still real kashmiri pandits are begging from the government to let them go back.... Provide them financial and security support over kashmir.....and fake one is asking for vengeance....they don't want relief.... I mean seriously.. They are nothing more then those terrorists.. Who were trying to divide the state at that time....now these goans are doing the same... Then I ask them only one question.. If You don't want compensation.. But revenge.. Then let's take it to little more back in time.. And 1st you pay for atrocities your ancestors had caused to backwards.. OBC SC ST.. And some places still causing.. People saying it is fully fake, I would love to point out that the deaths of many more Kashmiri pandits havent been shown as the movie can only show a specific time period. This all has happened, we hear it from our elders ,as a Kashmiri pandit myself. My grandpa has himself confirmed that this is true, my father says the same. So does many Kashmiri Kashmiri pandits out there. Are you saying that they are entirely wrong? This much of majority agrees yet u still wanna say "fake narrative" . I agree that they have not shown the deaths of muslims by the terrorists and have shown the opposition in too much of a bad light but that dosent mean the movie is wrong. All the slogans said in the movie were heard by my grandpa , and many more uncles..

On 5 August 2019, the Government of India issued a Presidential Order superseding the 1954 order, and making all the provisions of the Indian constitution applicable to Jammu and Kashmir. The order was based on the resolution passed in both houses of India's parliament with two-thirds majority. Modi Government removed both article 370 and 35 A . Golden day for India..

@@thirstyjogger They meant each family has their own story, few betrayed by their Muslim childhood friends, few by their neighbours, few by that times government. 1000s were killed. The sad part is the people who came as refugees to other states in India were forced to shut even if they spoke about it. That time's media was controlled by Congress and they never showed even a single story about this. My parents who were in their youth that time never knew something like that happened in Kashmir with Hindus. That's how they hid the complete genocide. Even now no one speaks about it except about this film. Till today if you search "Kashmiri Pandits Genocide". It shows in the first line "Only 32 Kashmiri Pandits were Killed". I mean who asked the number? I just searched about the information, hout any heads or tails only that single line pops up. That's how forcefully they want you to believe that not many only a few were killed and wants us to ignore/forget about this issue. The writers of this wikipage are Aljazeera and BBC editors who have locked the script after they made the edits in wiki.

@@thirstyjogger yes, because I once rented a house form a Kashmiri pandit, his name was Dushyant Bhat. I had rented the upper floor and the ground floor was rented by 4 Kashmiri pandit students. Whenever we would sit together, all these stories would come up, they always avoided talking about the genocide but it was like the trauma was a part of them. They would hide it coz they knew no one would believe them, but its not easy to hide such horrific incidents. Someone saw their father chopped into pieces and hung on the door, someone saw their older sister getting gangraped, someone saw bombings and kids blown to bits and pieces and what not. Not thousands but lacks of people were killed brutally, it's not possible to show it all.

The reason why kashmir was not given importance was because the government was instable. It was a coalition government with parties with opposite views supporting the third party. Right wing wanted revocation of article 370 but left wing wanted kashmir to be a separate country. On the other hand, the issue of caste based reservations overshadowed the kashmir issue.

3:08 Answer to your question - Good old fashioned politics. The govt basically turned blind eye to everything happening in Kashmir and no one did anything. Nothing was reported, deaths, rapes statistics were hidden. 99% of the country did not knew about these events till this movie was released. We did have a vauge idea but had no clue about the extent of these attrocities. I my self feel ashamed that I did not have much information on these events. But it also had to do with the fact that the kind of governments we have had till now. It was only the current BJP govt and the leadership of PM Modi that this movie saw the day of light. The director of this movie Vivek Agnihotri and his family recieved numerous threats while the release of this movie. He was provided with Z-catagory security by the govt. Even while the release, this movie faced significant amount of resistance by (who - I leave it to your imagination).
