Music composed by Farya Faraji, vocals by Farya Faraji and Kelareh Kabiri, lyrics by Ferdowsi. The Kayanian are a mythical dynasty in Iranian mythology. Successors of the Pishdadian dynasty that rules over the world at its creation, they are central to the plot of the Shahnameh by Ferdowsi, from which we extracted these lyrics, and are often seen alongside the heroes of the tale such as Rostam, Gordafarid, Sohrab and Tahmineh. The episode described in these lyrics happen at the beginning of the dynasty, when Kay Ghobād ascends to the throne of Iran and goes on campaign. The image scene on the video is the Derafsh-e Kāvyiani, the royal standard of Iranian empires from ancient times up until the fall of the Sasanian Empire.
Romanised transliteration:
Be shāhi neshast az barash Kay Ghobād,
Hamān tāj e gohar be sar bar nahād,
Hame nām dāran shodan anjoman,
Cho dastāno chon ghārane razm-zan,
Ghobād az bozorgān sokhan beshnavid,
Pas Afrāsyiab o sepah ra bedid,
Degar rooz bardāsht lashkar ze jay,
Khorooshidan āmad ze pardeh sarāy,
Pas e poshteshān Zāl ba Key Ghobād,
Be yek ātash be yek dast bād,
Be pish andaroon Kāvyiani Derafsh,
Jahān zoo shode sorkh o zard o banafsh,
Ze lashkar cho kashti sarāsar zamin,
Kojā moj khi zad ze daryiāye Chin,
Zenālidan e boogh o bāng e sepāh,
To gofti ke khorshid gom karde rāh!
English translation:
Sat he to Kinghood, Kay Ghōbad,
He raised that jewelled crown upon his head,
All the great names gathered there,
Such as Rostam-e-Dastān and Ghāran the Warrior,
Ghōbad, from the greats, heeded speech,
He listened to Afrāsyiāb and the army,
On the next day, the forces, they amassed,
Like waves of the sea, the tents of the army unfurled,
Behind, them, Zāl and Kay Ghobād,
On one side fire, on one side tempest,
In front, raised was the Kāvyani Derafsh,
From it, the world was turned red, yellow and purple,
That great army, upon the earth, was as a fleet on the sea,
With it, waves would be suffocated on the sea of China,
Resound did the cacophony of the glorious army,
Such that you’d say the sun would have lost its way,

Ancient Enemies how? I think you are conflating Central Asians with Iran. Iran and Aryavarta has never been enemies. Both Iran and Aryavarta influenced each other for eg. after Achaemenid conquests in Indus Valley writing in Aryavarta became widespread and Mauryan art shows a very Achaemenid influence. Indians even fought for the Shahnshah in Greece and at Guagemala against Alexander. Classical Age India influenced Iran as well like Chess and stories from the Panchatantra and science and gave refuge to Zoroastrians after Islamic conquest of Iran. Iran even though being our neighbour never fought with us and only fought with firang Romans. Only the central asians like Huns and Turks were the scourge in both sides like Sassanians and Guptas. I can only recall one instance of conflict when Nader Shah raided Delhi but that was one Turk raiding another Turkic empire.

Glory to Post-Islamic, Pre-Safavid Iran. Post-Islamic Iran was a Faithful Follower of the Sunnah (Sunni Islam), which Produced so Many Scientists, Philosophers, Theologians, Poets, Writers, Scholars, Doctors, Astronomers, and other Wonderful Professions. Pre-Islamic and Post-Safavid, Shiite Iran is Dogshit in comparison. That Includes your Beloved Shah and the Accursed, Demonic Pagan Republic of Iran that Khamenei Lords over like a Firaun (Pharoah) Not Pre-Islamic, nor Post-Safavid Shia Iran came close to the Glory that Sunni Muslim Iran produced. The Closest for the Pre-Islamic could MAYBE, be Cyrus, Darius, and Khosrow.

Lovely as always, Farya. Perhaps some day a song dedicated to the tragedy of Esfandiyar and Rostam's duel? Either way, this is amazing and makes me feel proud to be Persian.

Be shāhi neshast az barash Kay Ghobād, Sat he to Kinghood, Kay Ghōbad, Hamān tāj e gohar be sar bar nahād, He raised that jewelled crown upon his head, Hame nām dāran shodan anjoman, All the great names gathered there, Cho dastāno chon ghārane razm-zan, Such as Rostam-e-Dastān and Ghāran the Warrior, Ghobād az bozorgān sokhan beshnavid, Ghōbad, from the greats, heeded speech, Pas Afrāsyiab o sepah ra bedid, He listened to Afrāsyiāb and the army, Degar rooz bardāsht lashkar ze jay, On the next day, the forces, they amassed, Khorooshidan āmad ze pardeh sarāy, Like waves of the sea, the tents of the army unfurled, Pas e poshteshān Zāl ba Key Ghobād, Behind them, Zāl and Kay Ghobād, Be yek ātash be yek dast bād, On one side fire, on one side tempest, Be pish andaroon Kāvyiani Derafsh, In front, raised was the Kāvyani Derafsh, Jahān zoo shode sorkh o zard o banafsh, From it, the world was turned red, yellow and purple, Ze lashkar cho kashti sarāsar zamin, That great army, upon the earth, was as a fleet on the sea, Kojā moj khi zad ze daryiāye Chin, With it, waves would be suffocated on the sea of China, Zenālidan e boogh o bāng e sepāh, Resound did the cacophony of the glorious army, To gofti ke khorshid gom karde rāh! Such that you’d say the sun would have lost its way. For me to sing

Update: using this as part of my hopefully weekly sessions with my brother on poetry/literature of Iran. All of your music of course, but especially since we talked about doing the Shahnameh before, this will be especially pertinent to such an endeavour. You never fail nor miss, a pleasure as always to listen.
