Hey there, hope you're all doing well. I'm back with another ship review - this time the Keelback. It took a bit longer to release than I was hoping, so apologies for that. Enjoy and o7 🫡

the keelback is, by far, my favorite ship in Elite Dangerous. When I first started playing, I had a 2 week headstart on my friend. Not wanting to leave him behind, I scrounged together all the money I could from doing my data courier rounds, sold my hauler and type 6, and looked in my homeport for a suitable ship. I had heard multicrew was a thing, so having that second seat was a must. He couldn't really do much in most smaller ships, but the keelback was just within my budget. After some digging on the wiki, I saw the fighter bay and I was instantly sold. After doing the paperwork, installing a fighter bay, and grabbing the best FSD I could buy at the port (a class C), I went on with what I did best: delivering data newspapers, but now with a buddy. The amount of times my buddy managed to fight off pirates whilst I ran for my life, I cant count them all. The keelback has that character and the nostalgia of being the first real ship I owned, and when I first played for real with a friend. I still own that keelback, and I love it to bits!

Ah, finally someone to fill the void which The Pilot's retirement created - someone whose videos I can enjoy watching even though I already know pretty much everything on the topic at hand. Videos that I shall occasionally rewatch just to relax and unwind. Good job, Commander! Liked and subscribed. With that out of the way, back to the topic of this video - I've been away from ED for the better part of two years but I started playing again the other day. And I found man's best friend sitting quietly in my hangar - my old Keelback named Rottweiler. It's about time I took it out for a walk once more. Quick update: I made slight modifications to the Rottie's loadout and went hunting in the nearby high res site. Sporting simple and stock dual s2 plasma accelerators and dual s1 multicannons, a fighter bay, some shield boost and module reinforcement + repair and collector limpets and a modest AFMU....I had A TON of fun. 10 million credits might be like 50 cent at this stage of the game but the fun factor was super high. And much more often than not, I was the one initiating fights and not simply kill stealing. It takes A LOT of distributor management but it's good fun.

I do love the sound of it's engine

Playing on PS5 just recently. My Keelback is very fun, for the creds, I use it to do SRV stuff, and has a good cargo hold to stash goods, do S&R stuff, planet exploration is my favorite, its wholesome, stimulating, and its a pretty ship, im not a combat boi but I have a cobra 🐍 for that to steal npc kills for bounties when I want.

I remember when I first started this game I think it was 2016-17 on console, I flew in a wing with a couple of buddies using the keelback, I had a ton of fun with the thing especially anchoring 15km away and just darting around in my fighter, I picked it up again just a month ago on pc and I must say, I may enjoy the krait more, I’ve still pull out a keelback on occasion to mess around with.

0:52 Are you sure about that? Lakon just removed a body panel between the Main thrusters & the rotating thrusters.

I really liked this video!

The Keelback doesn't drift as much as the T6. You have to fly it FA off to get the most out of it. Boost assisted rotations are a must. It's one of my favourite ships actually. o7

I've tried to look up for exobiology on fighter, then docked to Keelback, land and scan plants. Not very efficient, but interesting solution. o7

CMDR Bob where are you at?

Just wish it had a larger cargo capacity.

Nah, the Keelback is definitely that ship that gathers dust in the hangar. I bought mine I dunno, 8 years ago? Barely done anything with it. It was the easiest way to get into SLFs at the time, and that's about all it's got going for it. I think I'm gonna pimp it with the uhhh, I think it's Torval's power play module that is a medium module disruption pulse? I'm due to buy those in about a week or so.

I know some people love this ship. It isn't one I have use of. I took a good luck at it and it just doesn't seem to serve a purpose for me.

careful, the Keelback customer service department might have issues with this video. Make sure you have your towel.

Nah, CMDR Bob generally embraces the flawed nature of the Keelback in his marketing efforts. The keelback is endearing despite of its flaws

Why is the elite universe so stagnant. Ship designs are 100 years old?
@Danko056 ай бұрын
And even more, Python is 600years iirc...
@RustedCrown113 ай бұрын
the timeline of elite is best described as... the "dark ages" of space travel, a lot of things are stagnant, crime is everywhere, constant civil wars and cold wars, space travel been around long enough where most citizens are unimpressed by it, kind of like how we take for granted the internet because we're just so used to it now
@Danko053 ай бұрын
@@RustedCrown11 And to some extent you can say the same about military aircraft today, although there are many 5th Gen aircraft in development and huge upgrades of the existing fleets, most of the fighters are decades old designs.

Wow the graphics is so ugly in this game. Boring ship design, ugly color skins without any roughness shaders, no interiors, same mesh and same size asteroids everywhere LOL. ⇩ ⇩ ⇩ Fanatics excuses below ⇩ ⇩ ⇩

Alright, I'll bite. E:D doesn't have the best graphics in the world, but they're still good enough to get some gorgeous shots. But even so, graphics aren't everything. I still play Unreal Tournament 1999, which has laughable graphics by modern standards. You know why I still play it? Because the gameplay still holds up. As it does with Elite.
@vladasss4 ай бұрын
@@gamingsnipsandbits Nope. Elite notsoDangerous was kind of good in 2014, when it was released. In 10 years, despite of numerous updates, graphics was not upgraded at all. It's looks awful now with same size asteroids, low resolution spacecraft textures and plastic avatar faces right from 2000 era of PC games. UT99 was a great game and bad example in this case. UT99 is your youth. You feel at home when you run around in those maps, because it's already part of you. You'd always load and play this game even if it didn't had any graphics at all.

@@vladasss The graphics did update. Why do you think the system requirements on the store page are so grossly out of date?
@CptJistuce2 ай бұрын
I like the ship designs, personally.
@strangejune2 ай бұрын
@@CptJistuce Honestly I think the ship designs are some of the weaker parts of this game. I came from Endless Sky (different genre space game) which has no shortage of ship designs I really like, but the ones in this game just don't do it for me.
