Mom decided to go into palliative care after being in hospital nearly 3 months on a respirator. Palliative care staff were great with her, and loved her even though she died on her 2nd day there in Jan 15th 2019. They were very supportive of me as well which made me feel a bit better about her situation. I can't imagine parents going through this with children.

My step sister wasn't a child when she passed but she was young. She had a son of her own. Watching all of these stories helps me know that my step sister knew love even at the end. I realize now that they kept her comfortable. That she wasn't hurting at the end. I wasn't able to be there when she passed and I always questioned how it all happened.

Hospice helped me through my mother’s death but I needed them after she passed they did not help me even when I left messages that was horrible they abandoned me when I was alone no excuse for that
@yahpr45485 жыл бұрын
Did they say they would help? What could they possibly help you with after your mothers passing? Their job was done unfortunetly.
@NJSMKMMS5 жыл бұрын
Yah PR Actually you are wrong about that, these days there are many, many, many hospices that do provide that after care to families of the deceased person long after death. The reason hospices services are so good is that they build relationships with the whole family and friends not just the person with the illness. As in the case of these little girls they work with families for many, many years at a time, and often times other than medical personnel the carers are isolated from every one outside of their immediate caring group. So in essence the carers have no one else and a great gaping hole that their loved one used to fill. Much of their very important work begins after the death, with the ones left behind.

I'm so sorry to hear this Helen. My mom had palliative care in the hospital and everyone loved her and were good to me in the immediate days after mom died. My wish is that everyone going through these sad times be treated as I was. I'm in Canada not sure if things are better here. My deepest condolences to you Helen. 😢😭🌷⚘💐🏵🥀🌹😭😢🇨🇦

I am sorry that you had a bad experience with your aftercare. Counseling was available for us but we were so worried for my dad. They were together for 77 years. Well I digress, my point was that the hospice care unit really push us to get involved in their resources. They called me at least twice a year. Finally I gave it. My husband I lost so many siblings as did I and we were just exhausted. This hospice staff was so professional yet they seen so calming and seemed to know just what the patients need no matter how crazy or unique. We lost mom and then dad 10 months later. We still hear from a couple of nurses and councilors from all those years. They made my father feel peaceful and calm. God bless all the staff of Samaritan Hospice in Virtua Mt. Holly.
