As if proving something I don't care about to someone because they questioned my ability will make my life better. I was fucking stupid, I made ignorance look like a lifelong skill Ive been working on. Be honest with yourself. Being black doesn’t make you immune to criticism. It’s not racist to criticize black people unless you are doing it solely on the basis of them being black. People have the right to their opinions, and when it comes to food, people like different stuff! Food is a very subjective experience. But customer service isn’t. It’s not really hard to be polite when you have minimal interactions with people. I’ve worked in restaurants since I was 13, never got a bad review on my service. Not even when I literally miscarried on shift, a very wanted child. It’s very easy to just be nice to people, even if you’re having a bad day. You probably won’t have to ever see this person again so it helps to just give them a decent dining experience and send them on their way. You have your basic or new people to said hobby/business and then you have experienced hobbiests/proffessionals in these spaces. The lingo and terms are usually different from what you'd hear on average and usually have alot of time and research put into it all. So your average person who doesn't sew or new person to said hobby/business, probably has no idea wtf is going on when watching a proffessional quilt maker, designer, seamstress, cosplayer or all the other subsections of the hobby. You have no idea what they're talkimg about or how you yourself can even judge any of it. That's how watching certain proffessional food critics feels like. But with Keith Lees reviews you don't feel any of that. It feels good to hear a guy who knows enough about good food to just give you a simple ass break down as if you were talking to your friend. The reviews are quick to the point, don't feel snobbish and completely clear to the average person. So of course lots of people who like food would flock to that kind of content because no matter who you are you can understand and consume these reviews quick and easy.

First time I ever saw him on my FYP was him talking about how he didn't get anything to eat at a Gordan Ramsey restaurant because they couldn't guarantee no cross contamination with shellfish, which he's horribly allergic to. He saw health code issues, and spoke bluntly about it, all I thought was "DAMN, never going to that place, that sounds horrific." Next one was the pizza place, and seeing the effect his positive review had just made me want to try it. I notice that even when he gives something a low rating, he will say "but I don't like the texture, you might, and could really like it."

As a Black person, I have been both annoyed and frustrated with black businesses and I live in the DMV. The food is always scary expensive and some restaurants have incredible rude staff (not all tho). I just wish they'd cater more to the community they serve, meaning.. prices we can actually afford.

As a Hispanic man I don't have this problem at the Mexican restaurants or the plethora of burrito shops where I live. Usually, I pull up to the drive through and it's a 45 year old man with a couple kids who is as high as I am so always chill and the food is almost always good.

@@vcalv9354I feel like it depends on the type of Hispanic restaurant. Mexican / Salvadoran restaurant employees are typically down to earth and offer reasonably priced food. I can’t say the same about the Venezuelan/ Dominican restaurants that I’ve been to.
@magnuskane246 Жыл бұрын
Because the majority don't understand long term business. They see selling it for the most profit, at the least cost to them as how people make it when it's the exact opposite. You need to have fair prices, good food and great hospitality to make it in the service industry. That means losing out on money your first few years, which they don't seem to understand. If you are in for a quick buck you might as well not even setup shop. You'll be pushed out once everyone realizes it.

Not really. There are hundreds of food reviewers on social media that are honest and respectful that will never reach his level. The truth is there's a lot of little things he did along the way that just lined up very well for him that landed him in the position he is in. He was already kind of known from his UFC fighting and was good at it. Then while there he built a wholesome social media reputation of being a family man. Then he slowly built his reputation of being an honest and respectful food reviewer and stayed consistent with it. It takes a lot of small moving pieces to make one machine work.
@s0ne01 Жыл бұрын
@fazormcghee7936 true alot of it is luck. But the reason people love him is that he ain't afraid to give a bad and at times a terrible review, which is why alot of spots are wary of him(a bad review from him could ruin them). Which is something other reviewers don't really do it's either positive or average. I don't think I've ever seen another reviewer straight up say the food was bad.

"We don't want him critiquing our restaurants" translation: "We don't want to be held accountable for our horrible customer service." Imagine having a big influencer critiquing your restaurant saying they don't like the wait time and you wait for it.... try to do something about it. You can easily use a negative review by Keith lee to gain customers if you show that you are open to criticism and willing to change. People love an underdog esp in America, so you can use his platform to your advantage.

I am also happy for the businesses that received the helpful reviews. They should take the reviews and make the necessary changes. Listen to the public because they are your customers. You essentially work for them. You need them, they do not need you. I had a second hand embarrassment by the behavior of the people that calls Metro Atlanta their home. Keith seems like a humble guy. I pray he continues to let YHWH lead him and not be influenced or changed by the world around him.
