Great video! Thank you! It would be great if we could have one in depth about the kodachi kata....

Hey Andy, really nice video! I love how you explain the waza, it would be very interesting if you made a video about all the katas too. Not many people train that at the dojo but they are also important in high Dan tests! I will appreciate it so more!

Hi, I am new to Kendo; as in only joined a local group here about six weeks ago. So while much of your video is new to me and not something I have learned yet, it makes sense. Positioning, distance and posture are key and I will remember this. Thanks.

I liked the video. Voice over works, and also I liked the time (I like short easy to digest videos) Thank you.

Thanks Andy, great video! A follow-up video with some addition points on the other kata would be great too!

Thumbs up for the voiceover. There's no oversteer on the mike, on the kiai, as it happened when you were miked during waza videos, because you needed to talk and demonstrate.

That was really interesting! And I think the voiceover works.

I think the voice-over works really well, though I would guess it takes more time on your part, so I could understand a reluctance to keep doing it. Personally, I think it would be good to have an in-depth dive into at least the first three, maybe with a discussion at the beginning of how kata fit into kendo as a whole and are not just "that annoying thing you do in testing that doesn't apply to anything else" (I know that's not correct, but it does seem to be difficult for a lot of people to really get to click in their heads).

Too much physical power, rly? In vacuum combat situation it's,perhaps,"save your life"! Initially, kendo-kata was developed to preserve the legacy of kenjutsu, at least in such a reduced form. So that the current schools of kenjutsu would start sparring, then it would become clear which schools have not yet lost their true kata.
