When you stressed the importance of being quiet when sitting down, I was really hoping for a "Bad Example" of you just being wild and throwing yourself on the floor haha. Good video and keep it up!

As someone who had to take an extended break from Kendo, this - with the notes that I took from my previous time! - seems like a great way to get back into the practice of Kendo. Thank you for making this!

Thank you so much Andy. I enjoy watching your show but this episode is perfect. My husband and I just moved from UK to Oman and opened the first kendo dojo there. I still wear the beautiful Sakura Bogu we created together (back in 2014) . All the best from Ichi Byô Shi - Muscat.

Very good idea - as a beginner this is just what I want to watch in order to get an idea of what will need to be learned to eventually get to Shodan. One suggestion - please put the japanese terms as a subtitle when they are used, so it is easier to learn/memorise these!

Maybe not the worlds most riveting topic, but always worth a second look. It can always be better right? I really appreciate your idea for this series Andy, I think it is a great topic/idea. I look forward to other videos. For what it's worth, I think your format, editing, etc, we good on my end (nothing seriously wrong or distracting). Thanks again!

Hi, Andy! Thank you so much for all your great work. I always truly enjoy watching your videos. There is one small question about waki-gamae I really want to ask. I've noticed that your front (left) foot is turned to be almost perpendicular to the centre line. I never paid much attention to it, but I have a feeling that the majority of people while assuming waki keep their left toes more or less in the direction of the opponent. So the posture is still semi-frontal rather than the side. As usual, there could be a number of different opinions around that, and hardly one "genuinely correct". But it's just something that slightly confused me. Can you please share your thoughts. Thanks!

Great video. Getting those all Japan kendo federation video vibes. My only criticism is wear different color shirt for the intro bit. It blend in with the background way to much. Other than that it was fantastic, keep up the good work.

9:22 whats the situation with left hand thumb, should it be used or not. Also if it should be used, does it also apply when wearing kote? I ask bc i somehow remember that thumb is supposed to be used to take shinai out and also be kept on tsuba when walking back, but i do not have source i could give where it was written. Also when we had small tournament where i live, i did not see anybody use thumb when wearing kote.

Lainchan B___k you have to put your thumb on the Tsuba when doing Taito with a Bokuto, but with a Shinai you can of you like, but you don’t have to.

Kendo is so full body that you really don’t gain anything by switching hands. You’ll never be holding the shinai in just one hand.
