I loved Super Powers. The cards said powers weaknesses enemies secret identity. Sadly lacking from Mcfarlane. My first was The Flash.

The only figure I had & cared about in '84 was Superman but sure wish I had a handful of other figures. Especially the rare ones like Samurai & Cyborg. This was a great video, thanks for sharing.

Loved it, missed red tornado which I had. I thought he was second wave. My mom bought a bunch of these as clearance when I was a kid. A big part of me starting collecting was finding comics with them in it so I could learn who I was playing with

The way I read the original message, OGWLOC...this guy was not at all saying that the pack-in mini comics that came with the SP figures got him into collecting and the comics medium. I'm pretty sure he was saying that having the figures at all and his curiosity of the characters was what made him start seeking out/collecting comics because he wanted to learn more about the action figures he was playing with and where they came from. The original poster can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm right.

I was never into figure collecting, but a friend of mine is. At various times, he's gifted me with the Super Powers Superman, Batman, Brainiac, Green Lantern, Doctor Fate, and Mister Miracle figures. I still have them all (but not all in the original packaging).

❤❤❤I remember when Kmart had all of these in a bin for $2 a piece. I bought them all with my Bday money and created a Hall of Justice from a cardboard box and pieces from my Night Rider racing track set. Lord, if ANY of us knew then what these figures would be worth in time. The 80s ROCKed.

I graduated high school in 1984 and off to the Navy. So, I missed out on this line of cool but as you pointed out some lacking in execution figures. They are just too pricey to collect today. That's why I appreciate this video. Living vicariously so to speak. However, I do have an Aquaman sans the trident. This is the most complete video on Super Powers I have ever seen, but I honestly wish it were longer or a series. I had the board game which you showed the front of. It had four buildings and molded guys and you would move around on the roof tops. Honestly it was a cash grab. I also had the record you showed. I think I got it by sending out in the mail for Steppenwolf and got the record. It only had the first half of a story then it said "What happens... you decide!" which drove me crazy I wanted the rest of the story. Cartoon was okay, but I felt like the Super Friends was in decline at that point. I loved the mini-comics and I had at least the first two series of comic books.. which the first one for my 10 year old self was legendary. Those guys got so much use and it frustrated me when I could never find any of the 3rd wave guys and I never got a Hall of Justice. Unfortunately I let my nephew have them, because he loved them as well... but he was not good at taking care of toys... so now all their whereabouts are unknown. RIP Super Powers.... RIP

I started Collecting in 1994. Pretty sure, given the timeline I got the Toy Biz rerelease versions. Despite the line ending a few years before, the local Toys R Us still had a lot of them! My very first day I got most of Justice League; Superman Batman Robin Wonder Woman Green Lantern Hawkman Aquaman Martian Manhunter Red Tornado Dr. Fate Unfortunately, over the 30 years (April 2, 1994 to April 2, 2014 + 4 days) I sold most of my Super Powers as better Figures came along in the 6" scale. Some of my early Marvel also suffered from this. I have Juggernauts and Rhinos, Hulks, and Things that are dinky as they were also 5" scale.

For a good few years when I was a wee lad, probably like when I was 5 til about 8, a year before my parents got divorced, my dad had a great job and position in the now infamous NYC business, EF HUTTON (luckily, he didn't do anything illegal, since he never was arrested or went to court or anything--- even if they lied to me back then, nowadays I'd realize why he woulda been gone for an extended few MONTHS at a time...not to mention we had the NY DAILY NEWS delivered to our house everyday and I read it as soon as I could read, so I woulda seen his dang name in the papers lol... Anyway)... So as such, for those solid 3 years, my dad spent stupid money on us, furnishing the basement, getting an above ground pool cuz growing up in Brooklyn and Queens, our "lawn" was concrete lol, couple of extra TVs, complete with WIRED remote controls lol, and TWO count em, TWO dual deck VCRs hahaha... no trips, no new cars, just a lot of STUFF.... So my older brother and I had a ton of toys and Nintendo games.... it all came crashing down when the company went belly up, and eventually like I said, they got divorced... then it was back to lower Class living like when I was a baby, and for the next 37 years and counting to this day... And the point of all that is I see it as funny now, cuz I can like, pinpoint exactly when he lost the job and money thru lines of toys like these.... We had the entire 1st 2 rows of figures at 2:15, but then only plastic man, Tyr, and cyborg in the bottom row; in fact, i didn't even know they MADE figures for Shazam and Mr Miracle lol! Same goes for SECRET WARS, though understandably, not too many people had or knew about those rare last 3 or 4 guys they made, was it? I know it was Iceman and Constrictor... we had Hobgoblin, cuz he was one of my favorites from the comics, but I don't think he was in that rare, limited release line of figures, yeah? Maybe it was just Iceman and Constrictor, but something is telling me that there was at least one other guy, maybe 2... I gotta go look it up now once I finish this video😂

Conceived in Late April 1984, Born in Late January 1985. This particular line is truly a classic for me. "The Bronze Age of DC Comics" is easily my favorite period of Comic Book History. "The Crisis On Infinite Earths" ends the "Bronze Age" effectively but left a lasting legacy that's still talked about, today.
