Endurance athletes used to carb load for days trying to maximize the amount of glycogen their body could store. Now we know this tactic isn’t effective because the body only stores so much glycogen. But can you excel in endurance events without any carbs at all? Dr. O has the answer.

This guy doesn't have a clue how racing actually works. In a real race, a cyclist can easily have 3+ hours in a glycolytic state (z3,z4,z5). Sure you can be keto for an endurance race, you just won't be winning anything. Yeah youll only be doing 3-8 minute efforts on keto and fat Till you bonk, mean while the people doing carbs will be doing 20-60 minutes z4 efforts and 2-3hrs total time in zone.🤦‍♂️

Keto outperforms carb loading for endurance if the person on keto has been on it for several months to become fat adapted. This a has been thoroughly study and tested in lab conditions with isolated top athletes. See Dr. Stephen Phinney’s research and book on the issue. Many top triathletes and endurance athletes on keto. Look it up. One of the big advantages is that you don’t bonk, don’t need to be stuffing your face with teeth-rotting gels. You have all the calories you need in fat, even skinny endurance athletes have enough fat .

What about a modified keto diet for a power athlete (powerlifting weightlifting) is this possible? and is there supplements that can optimize testosterone while on a modified keto diet?
