Can somebody explain the structure of the "Current place of residence" sentence. Why does "حالي" have dumma at the end? I tried the sentence on my own and I got حَالِيُ مَكَانِ إِقَامَةِِ.

بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم. مكان = مضاف the Place which is the first Noun to be mentioned, it is a الإقامة هي مضاف إليه. So the الحالي will come after the Idafah and it is describing the مكان. Hence it will have the dumma ending. Shukran.

For the word family "عائلة" what is the 3rd letter from the right ? The 1st letter is "Ayn" with a fatha on top. The 2nd letter is "Alif". But the 3rd letter, I don't recognize. The 3rd letter has a kasra on the bottom and a damma on top. The 3rd letter looks like a "Baa" but with no dot under it. The 3rd letter is pronounced as and English "i". But I don't recognize the letter from the Arabic alphabet. What is the 3rd letter called ? Thank you !

Yash Sareen it is Fusha. Classical arabic and not used nowadays.
