You should make it so that there is a 5 minute meetup outside once a week at a set time so the people aren't waiting all day, you don't feel guilty and you don't get distracted from your work every day.

Anna Walsh Casey tweeted a video which displayed that it is not a "hover" board. It uses some kind of magnetic thingy(sorry I don't know what it is called). So there are rails of these superconductor/magnets in the park(specially made by lexus for the board) only on which the "hover" board moves. Even a pro skater who is in the advertisement itself said that after long time of use he is still not able to use it properly or has gotten used to it..

He said he appreciates people who look up to his work and that likes to meet new people, I didn't hear any part where he comes as arrogant (as some comments state) he also mentioned something really important "bounderies and respect". I would love to meet casey and many youtubers but I would NEVER go to their places of work or house to disturb their privacy or do anything to make them feel awkward. On the other vlog I saw that most people waiting outside where kids!!! You can notice the difference between the adult fans who pass by and say hi without saying I've been X hours here and the kids who are loud, in big groups and even go inside his office (of course not all kids are like that but there's a majority). He has done many activities for fans he even likes to let random people use the hoverboard and stuff like that. I mean there's a time and place for everything and people should understand that.
@sarahs9031

I agree he shouldn't feel guilty because he kept those kids waiting. They should know that he's busy and can't always take the time to meet them especially around a work place. I would love to meet him but I'd never go and wait outside his office for as long as those kids do.

He intentionally made himself turn into a celeb? How is that even possible? No matter how much someone on YT wants to become/not become a celeb, it all comes down to the personality of the person who creates the videos + the quality of those videos + how many people "love" this person. You don't just become a celeb because you "want" to. Besides, what gives people the right to creep into the lives of YT'ers? Just because they share snippets of their days, does not give anyone the right to stalk/harass them in person. I never understood why people (fans?) do this. Casey, as with anyone else being a "celeb" are still JUST fellow human beings, honestly.

Peter Ryseck He seems to be of the opinion that if you 'do more', you'll eventually get good. When people have asked how to become a great filmmaker, his answer has always been 'make movies'... It's a pretty solid concept. Seriously, its actively difficult to do something every day and not improve a lot. :)

I think that the story behind the 'Do More' tattoo is that he got it in a period of stagnation of about a year, when he made barely any movies after selling his show to HBO, so the tattoo reminds him to not let himself get into a comfortable place again and to always be doing something.

PeeHooo No, it's just what he said about visitors and all. Some people are upset with it. But to be honest, I think Casey is right. You have to respect people's boundaries, and waiting outside his business like paparazzi (or worse, knocking on his office doors like creepsters) isn't the right thing to do. People need to learn to understand that. If Casey said it in a different way, the reaction may have been different, but he came out in an aggressive way, saying it pisses him off and all, so people are more upset about it.

I'm fairly new to watching this vlog but I'm noticing this trend where it seems like he's forgetting that without those "kids" he'd have nothing. Those are the people that support you and have granted you the success you've had (I know you worked hard to get where you are but again, without them, there would be no beme or vlog or anything). I started to notice this with the vidcon videos where he was always taking back doors and service elevators to avoid people. Acting like a superstar and hiding like that just isn't cool. Yes, you're busy, yes you have meetings and have to be places. I get it. But again, without the support of those people, there would be no meetings, there would be no business. You are very fortunate to have such a great following. But I hope you don't wake up one day, all your fans are gone and then you realize maybe it wouldn't have been that bad to give them a little more time and attention while they were still around.

***** I disagree. Yes, they are the "reason" that he's succesful, but it's not like kids decided to follow a random dude and make him famous. Casey is well known for being a hard worker and a very focused person, and if his fans don't understand that and keep invading his space/time, it's on them. I hate the fact that just for being famous it's like he "ows" his audience more than what he was offering in the first place, which is his vlogs and other videos
@palefox
@palefox 9 жыл бұрын
***** he said he doesn't invite them to stand outside his office but he also didn't forbid it even though he has mixed feelings about them being there. he's just nipping it in the bud - some youtubers have had people visit them at their house and ring the doorbell for hours, which is stalking as opposed to appreciation. there's a difference between going to meetups/thanking youtubers, and waiting outside their place of work when you know that they're generally busy but are polite, grateful and guilty enough to stop and say hi. as for the vidcon thing, have you ever been? youtubers get literally mobbed and if they don't use different corridors and lifts to get around then they get so crowded by people that they can't move. i don't know if this is the case for casey, but with 900k subscribers i'd imagine it is.
@banihex

***** It seems like he has always taken the "hidden" way, even on his own, with his son etc. I always thought, he MUST regret letting people know where his office is located. I really don't think he takes them for granted. But, having kids come into your office building, banging on doors, is completely unacceptable. I am a musician, I make a living performing, I always meet the audience after concerts. But, after 2 hours on stage, it isn't always what I WANT to do. Having that going on where you work everyday, has to be a drag. It is clear he doesn't take people for granted. He is also responsible for his employees who didn't sign up to be approached like that. Casey is NOT the product, he is not a slave, nobody is entitled to speak/selfie/run up to ANYONE!

***** I don't think thats fair at all. Yeah these people have helped him in his success, but truth is, there wouldn't be anything for them to notice without all the work he has put into his life since his high school days. So when he continues to try to put in hard work and people get in the way, I can understand that. Besides, as he said, he still does public meetups and things and hes never rude to people on the street, so he does appreciate them, its just about him trying to be as productive as possible.

What he absolutely doesn't want is people coming *into* the building and going to his office door. That is *completely* understandable, who would want someone outside their door?

The words about the guys waiting in front of your building are so true! But unfortunately nobody ever is interested about what it is like to make selfies with multiple strangers EVERY DAY. This is so time consuming...

Casey, you have to accept that you're admired, and unfortunately, famous. Nearly a million people are subscribed to your channel, and hundreds of thousands view your content daily. Those people think that your content is worth spending their time on, you yourself admit it and thank them for it, but some of them think that a handshake with you is also worth waiting outside your workspace. It's a distraction, I agree. Nobody can always cater to everyone all the time. Family, business, and everything else is what most successful people call their priorities but you have to remember that those people waiting outside your door are the people your business depends on. Those people are the ones using Beme, adding to your view count, expanding and sharing your online presence. So what to do? How do I take care of my business while taking care of my business? Super simple. Set up a schedule, just take a five minute break once every few hours out of the work day to go downstairs and talk to people. Tell everyone on the vlog about it. "Hey guys, so I think it sucks that some of you wait tons of time just to see me, I thought about just setting up five minutes at ten, one, and four on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I will go out there and say hi and chat but only for five minutes." Have a timer so you can stay on task and they know what to expect. This way, crystal clear boundaries are made, none of your fans feel like they are little more than distractions, you don't feel guilty about making them wait, and they are happier with the whole experience since it's fair to everybody present. Also,if you're looking for someone to fill a PR slot, I'm definitely not good enough but I appreciate the thought.

Joshua Salazar I think if Casey did that, telling everyone when exactly he will come out, even more people would show up. And you also have to consider the other people working in that building. I'm sure they might be bothered by tons of kids hanging out there all the time.

Joshua Salazar Casey doesn't seem like the person who would actually be able to stick to such a schedule. He has it hard enough finding time to spend with his family, but you're expecting him to plan his work schedule around regular meet ups? And I don't agree with you that his business depends on those few people, and he doesn't owe his fans anything. These videos are free, he doesn't even monetize them.

Casey I completely agree with your opinion about people showing up. But there is a reason why you don't put your info on the internet like that.. Believe me, if you would leave your phone number in the description, people would call you all day. You can say "please don't call me" but that's just not how this works. This vlog will probably contribute to people not showing up but people will show up again in a month. Have a nice day.

I'd also like to add that he doesn't make money off of these videos, so that entitlement attitude you have needs to be let go. People were going to his office before beme. I admire a lot of people and I would never go to their place of work to disturb them. Now that you know he doesn't like it, stop going to his work establishment and spread that knowledge to your friends.

Its mad to see so many people jump to conclusions and criticise Casey over one question in this vlog. So many vloggers and personalities/celebrities give the answer that they know their audience wants to hear and one of the things I admire most about Casey is his honesty. If you're going to criticise, watch the Q&A again... Casey specifically said he doesnt mean he doesnt appreciate it, but lets be honest, as much as you appreciate the admiration, having people constantly wanting photos and interrupting you while working is going to get tiring. It seems to me that Casey never lets his fans down, he always tries his best to meet them!! If I was in NYC i would love to meet Casey... id love to just chat to him for 5 minutes, but the guy has his own life and its amazing really that he shares so much with so many people on a daily basis.

what casey said about focus kind of annoyed me, not because it doesn't make sense but because what always strikes me as ironic is that i spend a lot of time (not right now, its summer) working really hard at my school work and trying to achieve the best results i can in education. however, i want to be a writer, and so i also would love to spend time working on that and improving so i can make it my career once I'm out of the education system. but i can't spend as much time on it as i would like, because of school. so while i'm working on achieving education so that i can become successful in a career, i'm actually neglecting the skills i what to work at so as to again, become successful in a career. i explaining that in a ridiculously long winded way, but i hope i got my point across. its something i think about a lot.
@MX-CO
@MX-CO 6 жыл бұрын
Your missing his point Completely , the Casey way would be to believe in yourself 100% and put in the work Effort and Focus into your Passion and believe enough in yourself that you can And will Make it as a Writer, that you will give up on your education or st least postpone it while you chase your dream because if you have faith in yourself and truly want and truly believe that you can and will ge successful that you won't need the other education.

As a "kid" watching your vlogs I completely understand that it's annoying and a distraction to have people waiting for you outside your work place but I also feel like the only reason they do go out there and feel encouraged to even attempt at finding you is because in your vlogs you come off as being a very encouraging and understanding person that sometimes us "kids" forget that your are actually an adult who gets pissed off at kids and we forget your actually not one of us at the end of the day. Tbh that's how I feel and I don't even live in NYC but after hearing you say how you basically don't like people waiting outside hoping to meet you kind of bums me out.
