He also went to the police on his own about what he knew. Also, she definitely cared way more about the money than anything else. Oh, and her husband was using the funds to pay off credit card debt WHILE she was supposed to be missing. Seems her and her husband both knew what was up. The plan was always for her to come back.

@@maycasper2661 the nose is one of the easier things to break, if you’re doing it yourself. If the husband was in on it, it could’ve been an accident. The break, I mean. The hit would’ve been to make it look real. Remember she lied about getting a bad cut on her foot. Even a moderate cut that’s well tended would still show after a couple of weeks. A bad cut, untended in a kidnapping environment m, on the foot no less? That would still show. Hell, it probably should’ve gotten worse. But she shows back up, remembers nothing of a three week period, running back and forth in front of a camera with no limp… no sign of any wound at all? Released by kidnappers who never wanted anything, who came _back_ across the Mexican border with a captive just to release her… on thanksgiving? The earbuds rolled and placed neatly on her phone right at the end of a road. “Taken” the only time she ever went jogging… None of that makes any sense She was emaciated, though it’s possible to do that yourself. It’s a nonspecific term and she was already very thin (for all we know she was already *extremely* thin before she left). And she had a broken nose, but that wasn’t affected by her supernatural healing powers. The two things about her health are things that one could easily do to oneself. Idk. It’s weird. I think it’s pretty clear she wasn’t kidnapped, at least not in the way she claimed. What DID happen, though? We’ll probably never know.

Let’s just say that her abduction was legit and her husband’s reaction was authentic. Here’s the thing, when you’re freaked out, you ramble. I’ve had to call 911. I was in shock and just kept repeating the same thing over and over. Another thing is that many many many missing person cases aren’t taken seriously by law enforcement, at least not right away. Many times they wont declare someone missing until 72 hours later, because sometimes people do leave town or don’t show up for a few days without really being missing (stupid policy in my opinion, though). The husband may have been trying to make them realize that this wasn’t a case of just miscommunication between husband and wife. He was trying to explain that she had been taken violently (the hair ripped off) so they’d take him seriously. I have my doubts on her end of the story, but I genuinely think the husband didn’t know where she was and truly didn’t have any part or knowledge of her “abduction”. He was an emotional wreck during those weeks and that’s hard to fake.!

"Ransom Consultant ..." This reminds me of a story local to my area: A few years ago, a man said he "fell in a hole" while walking home. His phone would go in and out of having service while in the hole (or so they thought). He called his wife/girlfriend at the time and told her this. She called rescuers and they launched an all-out search of that entire area. Helicopters, dogs, hundreds of personnel and volunteers ... During all of this, there was an ice/snow storm in the area. Worries about him being exposed to freezing temps had everyone out there looking during the inclement weather. EVENTUALLY, after all was said and done, it was found to be a complete lie. The man was somewhere he shouldn't have been, didn't want his wife/girlfriend to know about it, didn't want to leave there and go home, and he decided to pretend that he fell into a hole. He picked up several criminal charges and it is now a really bad joke that most of the rescuers involved with the search do not find very funny.
