It's a great thing that they went out and played what they wanted, no doubt. That's the awesome part. BUT, crappy quality and kinda good singing is not being punk, it is just an excuse of lacking exercise & practice. Take the mastering quality of Green Day's Dookie & Insomniac, or Misfits's Famous Monsters & American Psycho for example. Now I'm not saying you need perfect mastering quality, The Ramones, Fugazi, Dead Kennedys and the Danzig era Misfits have proven that, but, they didn't lack practice and exercise.
