Seems like most UA users would be happy with the "Sweeten" module from their Verve Analog Machines, just to get that warm tone. More advanced users, looking for specific emulations, will benefit from all the options. Great video, Marlon!

Kramer Ampex is great! Use it often on instrumental groups for glue and tame peaks.

The Native Version is actually a big GUI version of the Luna Extension not the UA-2 version. Everyone had been asking for this plugin since UA went native, sadly they just put their luna extension in a large GUI.

Honestly the sound is top tier people may not like the functionality changes and that’s understandable but man you’re not gonna get this accurate of an “analogue tape” from any other plug-in, choose 1/4 tape and run it at 30 IPS on 456 or GP9 tape, you’re welcome.

I’ve seen people going into rabbit holes looking for the perfect tape simulation and owning several of these. I was, in my opinion, lucky to have tried the Waves J37 first and loving it because it was exactly what I was looking for. I also bought the Softube Tape on a whim after that, and regretted it immediately (I know some of you like it). Ended up just getting the J37 and opted to just try a bunch of demos of other tape simulations before buying them, just to see what was out there. The J37 does it for me. I also bought the Kiieve Audio Face Tape, because it behaves like an old AD/DA converter and it’s cool to get some nasty tones.

I have tried to make my mixing template Brauerize style. It was a bit disappointing that the delay didn't appear in this new plugin, as the Grammy winner uses it in this way. In any case, I have already acquired the license. I will try to put it to good use for mastering.

I already had the Slate VTM which I really liked but when I A/B'd it with the IK Multimedia suite I thought the IK's sounded better, especially the Studer 80. It just gives a bit more spice. 😎

No I didn’t. My demo of the uad2 was expired. But I suspect no change in sound, simply because it wasn’t mentioned and that’s always a marketing strategy.

I think that the main reason that they removed some features is to bring the latency of the plugin down significantly. The DSP version of the plugin adds a LOT of latency. It would be cool if they released the full version as well, but not a huge deal for me.

UAD2 by itself has bigger latency when you use it in a DAW - it has to do with the interface AFAIK, moving back and forth data via usb or thunderbolt. But I didnt test the older plugin on the DSP for latency. They told me it was basically for streamlining the new user experience. I personally think delay and testtones are that big of a cause for extra latency?

@@whitenoisestudio if you load the DSP version as an insert in the UAD console, the latency makes it pretty unusable for real time monitoring. According to the page that references UAD plugin latencies, the DSP induces 2262 samples while the native version induces 212 samples. Pretty significant!

UAD has made partially a good job here but.... they continue to not think till the end on this. Needed are these: A gain match knob! A lowcut filter to leave the lows untouched. A mix knob to adjust wet and dry. and visual feedback with numbers in the eq adjustments. Its ok ok to faithfully recreate old good stuff... i'm with you. But in todays times we should make things better and more usefull. Right now i have to do a lot of tweakin.. parallel processing to get what i want from the Ampex ATR 102. Further the UAD App does have many problems.. doesnt open properly, crashes, does not recognize licenses, with lot of restarts needed. UAD should remove once for all this tedious Ilok system and provide licenses like any other modern manufacturer😊😊

Yeah!! it's honestly a disappointment. I bought it with all the hype and ended up surprised that it lacks several of the best features that the UAD-2 version has. Give me the option to choose complex or simple, the plugin always had the option to auto-calibrate, that is not a valid excuse for sell me an inferior version, or are they now going to sell me the extension? I want all the control over wow & flutter and noise for creative purposes!! and the Delay!! By the way, tanks for the Mid-Side tip trick. Anyway...
