I have a significant number of Seikos in my collection. ALL of them run far more accurate than their specifications would indicate. If accuracy specifications are your primary thing than I suggest high accuracy quartz. Those are cool in their own way too.

The accuracy is so much better than what Seiko announce… I own many 4R and 6R calibers mouvement and they are all in thé COSC. My Présage (same as the one in this vid) is just +1sec/day !!!!

that's so nice to hear! I'm new to the world of watches, and I fell in love with this one recently, I have to ask, how do you mesure the accuracy of your watch? and are you lucky to have a +1sec/day Presage? or maybe if I buy one I might have a +10sec/day?

I own this piece as well as the spb143 both using the 6R movement. I don’t have a time grapher but in daily use on my wrist it’s no where near that deviation. It’s more like + or - 6 seconds a day.

Yeah it can be like that or +15 like the watch in the video. The wide range is what bothers me, Seiko is basically saying "could be good or bad, but either way it's your problem".

@@mikesmith5389 Sort of, but you can't send it back forever and it's still "work". Most people buy a watch and keep it without possibly sending it back multiple times. In the end, I'm not saying Seiko is bad or anything, but it could and can be better for the money.

I'd rather fiddle with the watch the i have love for the dial and design than to have an accurate put of the box watch with half the love i could give and treat us like idiots. Ie. Tissot. Which remove the normal regulator and requires the new power matic to be regulated at the factory with a so-so dial design. Provided they have the same price bracket.

I just bought one this colour! It is gorgeous! I chose it over Tissot Gentleman, simply because it is a more beautiful watch and in terms of accuracy, I am not sure if there are man people out there who mind a few seconds here or there a day. At least I am not one of them. If I ever counted the calories with the same accuracy, 5 calories here or there? or IF I ever cared about being at a meeting with 5-10 sec accuracy, I would not buy this watch.

I have a seiko turtle with a 4R36 movement which runs within +/-2 seconds a day out of the box(for over a year) and a Tissot PM80 one running at +35 seconds a day which I had to give for servicing within a few months. In my experience while the mentioned margin is high the real world accuracy is excellent. Your 6R movement has a regulator and can easily be made more accurate, the power powermatic 80 doesn't.

Hey, my Seiko SARB017 (Alpinist) deviates about 1-2 Minutes a day depending on how much it's wound. Its a bit disappointing that this 4 year old watch has that much deviation straight from the factory.

@@danielwecker5984 that is really disappointing. I guess from the wildly different accuracy people are getting they could do with improving the quality control. Try giving it for servicing to an experienced watch guy, and do get it checked. It's also possible it could've been magnetised.

You're getting too hung up on the Seiko specs for their movements. In practice they are nowhere near as inaccurate as you think. I have 2 Seiko Presage Cocktail Time watches and they are both within 2 seconds a day. In fact one is so accurate on the wrist it's difficult to see any deviation at all. To all intense and purposes it's accurate to 0 seconds a day. Apart from that if you buy mail order you've got the right to return a watch for a full refund withing 14 days of receiving the watch so if you are more satisfied with the accuracy just return it and either order another one or forget about it altogether. Buy mail order though and not through an AD where you haven't got the same rights of return.

I have the same gripe as you have with seiko! tissot gentleman PM80 has greater accuracy than 6r35!

You have a good point , I have a love hate relationship with Seiko, don’t think they offer value for money like they used to, and there QC, is very poor on there past divers , poor alignment chapter rings etc, thanks for the video , and given time you will grow many subscribers , thanks Shane uk 🇬🇧
