Fascinating video on Elvis, he was an incredible singer/performer, probably the greatest ever, still sadly missed😭 I went to the Priscilla Presley tour, at the Tyne Theatre and Opera House, Newcastle upon Tyne ,with my dad. She showed private home videos, that have never been shown to the public, of the family, some at this very location. Great video L T Jones as always, thanks.

@@Elvista Wrong, she decided she wanted to go back to the Presley name and was certainly entitled to. Anybody in the world can take the name Presley if they choose to. You might as well just admit you resent her using it, but it's really none of your business. I'll never understand why certain Elvis fans think they must spend their lives constantly berating her for being who she wants to be, guess they are bored with their own lives. @kirkleythomas9280 Жыл бұрын
Yes, he owned this home, and another at 144 Monovale Drive. He also owned a home in Palm Springs. The Los Angeles homes were eventually sold, (actually Priscilla got the Monovale house in the divorce and sold it to Telly Savales in 1975 and Elvis sold the 1174 Hillcrest house in 1973 after their divorce). But at the time of Elvis’ death he owned two homes - Graceland and the one in Palm Springs.

@@LTJones If you haven't seen that 1979 "ELVIS" made for TV movie, do! Kurt becomes Elvis and the director has a way of staging shots where he will set up a scene that uses a fade focus w/ Kurt in the background slightly out of focus and looks just like the real deal! He does the same with the use of shadows next to Elvis. That movies won the highest acclaim & awards that could be awarded. In the "Suspicious Minds" scene, it is this house you will see interiors of. KZbin user Midnight has the film. The girl that plays Priscilla, Season Hubley is perfectly beautiful. Charlie Hodge plays himself. There are a few facts incorrectly done, as was the case w/ the 2021 movie but it is my favorite Elvis movie in being completely believable. Vernon & Gladys are perfect.
@serenatwilite4005 Жыл бұрын
@@synchronicity1470 I totally agree with you about the Kurt Russell movie. I think it is so much better and Kurt looks so much more like Elvis than Austin Butler, his facial features, his physique were so much like Elvis, could have been his twin. Especially when you consider Elvis real hair color was probably pretty close to Kurt's in real life. I think Austin just looks like some weak, sickly, gay version of Elvis - but I'm not too surprised he was chosen by Baz Lurhman since Luhrman is a very effeminate looking man himself. I think he wanted a feminine gay looking Elvis. I really thought most Elvis fans would be disgusted by it, still can't believe the acclaim it got and Kurt's beautiful portrayal has been almost forgotten. In every scene Butler just looks like some teenager dressed for Halloween to me. I liked Season Hubley as Priscilla much better too, felt like she really captured Priscilla's soft, feminine nature and sweetness at that time in her life. I also loved that they used the Hillcrest house in that scene, made it feel so authentic. As far as Priscilla and LM loving the new movie so much? I think LM had gone around the bend from all her drug use and I think Priscilla's mind must be slipping in her elder years. Either that, or they were both paid for promoting it. We all know LM was needing money. I heard that Luhrman felt that their endorsement of it would be critical to the movie's success and acceptance by the fans, so I wouldn't be surprised if he paid them to promote it.

@@serenatwilite4005 I can't be in more harmony w/ all your thoughts. I can't express how revolted I am w/ the AB portrayal of elegant, refined, sultry EP. He appears incredibly garish & goulish, is too lanky & skinny. His features & long face are not served well w/ the cartoonish make-up. Something just dawned on me today, as I am in wonderment as to why the people are raving about how perfect AB was in the new movie. My thoughts are, for those of us who have lived Elvis most of our lives and even for those other people who may have discovered him new, their immersion is such that they and we are so familiar w/ every photo of Elvis ever taken, every film he's been in, every concert video ever recorded - we in our discernment cannot accept the AB Elvis because we know him so well. The casual viewers NOT having that immersion would just be seeing an interesting biopic, would not be as invested in the life story of Elvis and therefore could see right past the DOWNRIGHT OFFENSIVE CARICATURE of EP as played by AB! I promise, I delayed seeing the movie for almost a year, as I didn't like what I was seeing in the clips. But when I finally did, I made myself go in w/ an open mind, willing to give the guy a chance. After all, EP was a once in a century entertainer. His charisma, masculine beauty & emotive body will honestly never be seen again. I know Austin gave it his all, his head & body were just all wrong. The 1979 movie was stunningly amazing! ALL the cast were perfect. I am so, so glad a movie of Elvis' life exists to preserve the man & his story for eternity that is not offensive or unbelievable. This way others will have some idea of just how special EP really was. Kurt, while slightly short & smaller in frame DID look like E's twin. I watch that movie often. Oh! I read Priscilla was paid $50,000 to review the script material of the 1979 movie. And I agree, she went around promoting & gushing abt the Baz movie, for financial reasons & in order to promote the furtherance of Graceland to a new generation of fans, which is not a bad thing. Not bad, but a little disingenuous. Or heck, maybe she DID think Austin Butler was the best thing since sliced bread!! I have never been a 'Cilla' fan for a number of reasons.

Wonderdul, fantastic, and many thanks, so just let me add a few details. I start with how much did the last three owners ( in this, the 21st Century alone,) paid for the house. It was Peter Morton, founder of Hard Rock Cafe, who bought it for $5m, and sold it for $14.5 million to someone who wanted to build a new home there. It had happened to the house Elvis had famously rented, twice, on Perugia Way, so it wouldnt have been anything new, as far as homes where Elvis lived are concerned. But then came the savior, his son, Harry who paid U$25.5m to the person who bought it from his dad. Incredibly, the son is the one who has since died, while the father is still alive. The house, if it was put for sale, TODAY, il is estimated that it could be sold for $30m because of its extraordinary precedence. Finally, Morton Sr. has something in the Hard Rock Museum in Atlantic City that once belonged to Elvis and was parked at the home on Hillcrest, but painted black. Here it is, painted in silver, something which was done by one of its owners decades after Elvis gifted it to SHARE on July 4, 1968. The idiots who produced and filmed "The King" didnt know this beauty had been GIFTED by Elvis to an organization which acts on behalf of women who have survived mamal and ovarian cancer. They paid US400,000 for it, at an auction in London, made the film, interviewed people who while sitting there, in that beauty, criticized Elvis for only caring about money, and then the movie lost US$450,000. LOL. Instant karma. But when they NOTICED Luhrmann-s film had grossed US$280m worldwide, they realized how stupid they had been. Incidentally, Lisa Marie's first home was Graceland, as she was born in Memphis. scontent.fmga3-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.6435-9/88048503_3594127487295171_8167715285051113472_n.jpg?_nc_cat=100&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=dbeb18&_nc_ohc=dip3AvwHYKwAX8mHp0H&_nc_ht=scontent.fmga3-1.fna&oh=00_AfBa7KqWb3znaEuxhAoyP9ZdAkU_wbQ46kgAuml6VaBGbg&oe=64C58965
