My first King's Singers personal impression was the Budapest Concert 1981.06.16. I was only 16 years old, without ticket listened this marwellous concert illegal, standed between the rows on the top level of Music Academy Liszt Ferenc Budapest big concert hall. Now I'm 56 years old. But the QUALITY of King's Singers, the permanent tradition of quality, the high intelligence of music performance - this is absolut not changed. Fantastic voice balances, very high quality arrangement, cristal clear intonation... what a beauty for my ears permanently over 41 years by King's Singers ANYTIME..... thank You soo much and gratulation for the continuing of this vonderful tradition and best way of music.

Listening for the first time here. This is awesome. Wanted to hear after a nearby college was in the news for inviting the King's Singers for a second time and then abruptly cancelling their scheduled concert a hour before the start for "lifestyle concerns"! Pensacola Christian College is the guilty party.

Lovely. This song will always be special to me as someone who sings every day. First we sung it as a child many decades ago at home. Secondly I did a vast amount of singing with all my children including the youngest boys, twins - the latter up to some pretty high music grades but then their voices broke and this was the one song one of them sung for a UK music exam when he was no longer a treble - it was the last time we sang together, sad but a sweet memory.

I love this informal setting, and the way the music allows you to be freer. The smiles come and go, are more reactive to the music. For example, the counter tenors caught each others' eyes at a particularly beautiful moment, and smiled. I love that acknowledgement when something is really good; the look was genuine joy. It's hard looking both professional and at ease. My preference is always for being at ease. Your depth and breadth as musicians is absolutely in evidence in this video.

Why does the pianist have the music flat instead of on the stand? It doesn't look to be for mic-ing purposes...?
@liamdunachie Жыл бұрын
I prefer to have the music stand flat so that I can maintain easy eye contact with the rest of the group, especially the bass player. It also means you can hear the sound of the piano a little more clearly because there isn't a music stand blocking the sound between the piano strings and my ears
@karlmylnere57123 ай бұрын
Lovely stuff, great arrangement but in truth the bass is far to intrusive, half its volume would have been much more in keeping.

I just discovered you because you were in the news because a religious college in an American state cancelled you because one of you are gay. You all are extremely talented and sing such beautiful songs! I'm so sorry you were discriminated against. Please don't let the small-mindedness of one shrinking group of people here alter your view of America or the American people! Most of us abhor discrimination of any kind and just want to love everyone.

I wish The King’s Singers would find a video outfit that isn’t so obsessed with showing how edgy they can be. The constant swooping of the camera doesn’t match the nature of the wonderful singing at all. I just wish one of these video producers would learn the value of less is more and depth of field.
