I mean, they just gon' sit up there and nonchalantly charge $90 dollars for a beloved game franchise collection like Kingdom Hearts when they're putting it on the switch in cloud format, and cloud gaming is most unproductive form of gaming ever conceived by man. You couldn't even game on the go with the cloud version of Kingdom Hearts, which directly defeats the purpose of the Switch's hybrid gaming form factor, which is what it's marketed as. Heck, Nintendo's expansion pack with the Switch online service is irrefutably better than this, you can actually play the N64 and/or SEGA games OFFLINE, and compared to this shipwreck by Square Enix, Nintendo is only charging $49.99 (plus tax obviously) for the expansion pack add-on. It's so hilariously ironic how critics without hesitation demonize Nintendo for " allegedly " anti-consumer business practices when companies like Square Enix are guilty of JUST THAT.

So first off, thank you Square Enix for putting up a demo. Now that I have attempted to play a cloud game, I can safely and effectively boycott the concept entirely. I was booted inside 8 minutes of running the application. Including the first pick a game menu, the waiting for a server and getting into a game. The music would speed up and down desnycing from the video in cut scenes. Every 40-50 frames things would hiccup. Warning connection is low, then kicked. Lol nope No thanks. I own all the games on Ps4. (None of the DLC for KH3) I would love to play them all again in bed or on the go... but nope.

That source code issue was with the ps3 remasters they lost some of the code so they basically rebuilt the games to make sure they worked for the hardware and deliver what they intended to deliver. So it's not a lack of source code it's a lack of interest to make the code work for the switch version.

But when the games are released for XBOX and PC it also has the 50 to 60 Dollar price because it is new to those platform but people complained and wanted the 25 dollar price that the PS4 has given to the All in One Collection. Even though the games are old to the PS4 it doesn't mean it is not new to those platform that's why they charged the same amount of price for the Switch because the games are new to that platform, but the problem is that it's not a port but a modified PC version and made it into a Cloud version for the Switch so they should have made it cheaper since you're just renting the games and not really owning anything.

I, like many here, wanted to at the very least give the cloud versions a chance to prove themselves, especially after seeing a friend of mine showing me what Xcloud is capable of. Unlike Xcloud, I wasn't even able to start the damn games. Any of them. And I have a 600MBps fiber connection. Now, that MIGHT have to do with the fact that I don't live in the US or anywhere else that Square bothered to include a server, but that right there is one of my issues with cloud gaming: we depend entirely on the company's "goodwill" to actually play the very thing we paid for, be it rental or purchase! Not to mention that said "purchase" is nothing but an extended rental since servers will not remain open forever. Hell, it might not last as much as the console it's currently on. So as a summary: fuck the cloud.

I had the weirdest experience with the demos. Kingdom Hearts 3 ran like a charm on my switch, I had zero complaints. But then I tried out Kingdom Hearts 2 final mix and somehow that one was dropping frames and stuttering a bit... I don't know if it's a thing where like Kingdom Hearts 3 had more effort into the optimization or maybe it's because I was playing KH3 during off-peak hours whereas I tried out the KH2 demo during high traffic internet hours? I don't know, I'd try out KH3 during both hours to compare, but of course square only lets you do the demo once.

That stuttering is normally due to either your connection or traffic or even your ISP's traffic. There are many many factors you'll have no control over that will cause stutters.

I remember Square Enix saying the reason why the Kingdom Hearts games are running on a Cloud Server was because of system memory or storage. If Square Enix so was concerned about space, here’s how they can work around it. They could release the I.5 and II.5 Compilation separately. Just like with the PlayStation 3. That way they could potentially avoid the drama of then cartridge only have half of the collection and the other half being download only. I’m looking at you Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. If they are still concerned about spacing, then just release the games from I.5+II.5 and II.8 individually on the Nintendo eShop. If it means the games running on Switch hardware, I’d be more than happy with that route. Also, The HD Cinematics individually would be available for free. As for Kingdom Hearts III, I think the Switch would have handled III okay. I mean, look at The Witcher III and Doom Eternal. Both games are down scaled onto the Nintendo Switch to the point where they are playable enough on the Switch. I mean, Kingdom Hearts III doesn’t have me insert two PS4 discs into the system to fully install the game like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Final Fantasy XV Remake. If the gameplay graphics have to miss some graphical effects, worse framerate, lower resolution and potentially every cutscene being an FMV, I’d be more than fine with that if it meant Kingdom Hearts III was on Switch. I’ve got some friends who haven’t played the series yet, but I really want them to try out the games and I’m going to say this as a gamer that prefers 3rd Party games on Switch due to portability, I advised them to get them on PS4 or PS5 or Xbox. Because for the Switch cloud versions, especially considering fast paced combat with the player’s attention being demanding is a defining feature of the Kingdom Hearts series, I’ll think I’ll wait for a Proper Switch port. I’ll just play them on my PS5.

I think the main purpose of the demos is to test the cloud streaming. At launch of the demo, it’s not good. Like you said, it’s playable but the quality is poor. I have highspeed fiber internet and never have issues streaming or downloading. So I think they definitely need to fix the server. That said, I bought the entire collection for $72, and let me tell you why. I’m not comparing it to the $20-30 that it costs on PS4. I would have to buy a PS4 in the first place, which is over $500. Wouldn’t be the first time I’d bought hardware to play Kingdom Hearts. Years ago, I bought a PS2 primarily to play KH 1 and 2. I don’t regret doing that back then, but I’m in a different place now. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the KH series, but I just don’t have that much cash lying around . The only games I’ve experienced aside from KH1/2 are Chain of Memories and ReCoded. I cannot wait to play those games again and sharing them my kids who have no idea of the masterpiece they are in for. And to finally play all the games I’ve missed. Literally a dream come true. So yes, I’m happy with the $72 I dropped on it, even if the service does not improve. However, that doesn’t mean that it won’t be an embarrassment to Nintendo if it’s not improved.

I actually didn't have any issues playing on my TV. I have a V1 Switch with a LAN adapter, so that may be what makes it different for me. My switch was clocking 135 Mbps. For reference, Stadia required 35Mbps down speed to stream 4K60fps. I had 0 artifact issues, 0 audio issues, 0 input lag issues, and KH 3 looked absolutely stunning on my home TV.

The fact you're calling them "playable" when you haven't fought late game bosses or data fights is what the issue is. Having the normal 60ms-100ms lag (1/10th of a second) in a game as fast paced as KH is going to lead to a lot of issues in mid-late game fights. This is also assuming the Data Fights exist in these ports. KH is fast paced. Cloud Gaming simply doesn't work for fast paced games. Even a tactical RPG the natural 60ms lag can eat inputs and cause you to do things you didn't intend so you have to go slow. In KH you'll have to be psychic or they have to slow every enemy down by 100ms.

Give it about 6mo until not enough people are playing the cloud versions and they axe the servers to run more ff14. At any time they could pull the rug and all $72 spent on kh goes to waste before you can finish all the games.

@@sonicsnobody for the price you are paying, you can buy a used ps2 or ps3 and the games and own them natively. I got my used ps2 for $50 and kh1+2 for $20 at a second hand store.

I would gladly have bought 1.5+2.5 again for the Switch at full price if this was an actual port of the game, but no they just had to make them cloud games. Even then, I still can't buy it on Switch as these cloud versions are not available in Australia, so even if I was desperate I still can't get it. What a waste of resources.

I can see why KH0.2 and KH3 would need to be cloud games but the switch has shown that it can run the older KH games with games like KH: MoM which uses the same engine as older KH games so what they should have done is release KH 1.5+2.5 as 1 or 2 Switch cards in a type of bundle and save KH2.8 and KH3 as the cloud games cuz I think that move would be better received by players cuz if the servers that run the games ever shuts down permanently you will lose those games forever and never get to play them again.

This is why Stadia needs to fail because Stadia's failure would would be a deterrence for cloud only versions since it'll delay cloud gaming to the era of flying cars and our grandchildren have grandchildren.

A while back GameStop had a sale of these games. Not the regular versions but their Final Mix versions. I got 1.5,2.5, the story so far 2.8, and final fantasy type zero. I got these all these games for $30 USD, it was a steal of a deal. I do not need a streaming service or download the game ever. This cloud service is an absolute joke, got all these games for less than half of the price of the "Collection" edition.

I tried the kingdom heart III demo it was a little laggy and the audio was delayed but it was still playable…until I got to the part where we can start exploring Olympus and then it just ended the demo right then and there. That made me pissed. I was like: I ONLY GOT TO PLAY THE STATION OF AWAKING/DIVE TO THE HEART PART!!! WHY BOTHER WITH MAKING THIS A DEMO IF WE(or just Me/I)CANT EXPLORE OLYMPUS?! I UNINSTALLED THE DEMO AND STARTED TO UNINSTALL THE 1.5 + 2.8 Demo too, I was not gonna go through that again.

Another thing: when I first installed the demos, I did notice the prices for the games and the pricing for the games was FREAKING RIDICULOUS!!! And THE WHOLE COLLECTION WAS DAMN NEAR $80 dollars! $71.99?! Uhhhh no thanks HARD PASS

Sorry one more thing: I have all the games on ps4 but the idea of playing kingdom hearts on switch sounded like a good idea because I wondered how they would work, my ps4 is back at Vegas( I moved there from Nc but now I’m back at Nc to finish school), and well I couldn’t bring my ps4 back with me to play them(also we haven’t had a kingdom hearts game on a Nintendo system for a while. I’m not counting melody of memory, fight me). The only things I did bring was my 3ds, The original ds, and my gameboy advance and I was limited to play: KH3D, Chain of memories, and Recoded. Ngl it kinda sucks.

I got a ps2, kh2 and two more games for $60 at a flea market. To play kingdom hearts on a switch, you first have to pay $300 for a switch and buy the game at $40 or more. To play on a ps4, you can get a used ps4 for around $200 and buy the all in one collection for around $30.

For me, I sampled kh3 and 2. Kh3 i found more than playable with a 5 ghz wifi connection. With it, the connection has like 200 up and 400 down. Basically, that's 10x the speed my regular wifi gives me. It ran just fine and there were barely any pixilation that I could see. For kh2, I could feel a bit of jankiness because it is a very fluid game even at 30 fps. Like when you do a jump and spin on the skateboard, it is supposed to be a very smooth motion but Roxas kinda snapped to different directions.

Very disappointed not buying these games until they aren't on cloud anymore. I can already play Kingdom Hearts at home with better graphics and no stutters. I sincerely hope Square will fix this huge mis step. If Disney has anything to do with this it's probably not going to change unfortunately cause God forbid Disney spend money on the products people will actually enjoy.

It comes down to everyone that wanted Sora in Smash. This is why you don't put 3rd party in a 1st party game. You wanted KH collection, you better support it. Don't ask for anything ever again. Square Enix just likes that Sony money. Even though Square Enix owes all of their success to both Nintendo and Sony.

The only reason I could see someone buying these is if they are poor or a kid and can't afford another console (I was in that position as a kid, I only had Nintendo consoles and for example if Game streaming would have been possible in the Wii era I would have bought cloud games on that as I wouldn't have had a chance to play them otherwise, I missed out on a lot of stuff I wanted to play back then like Mirror's Edge, GTA IV, the proper version of Need For Speed The Run and Burnout Paradise, I was still overall happy to have a Wii though.) so it's either this or nothing and if they really do want to play these games again say 10 years from now, maybe they would have the money then to buy them as a port or backwards compatibility on consoles they have then or buy a used PS4 when both the PS4 and games are dirt cheap. However this is embarrassing, I could understand 3 streaming but streaming PS2 games? Seriously? Hell, the Switch should be able to run the PS3 versions without problems.

For that get kingdom hearts Melody of memory for nintendo switch . I think Square Enix are cheap and weird they take out kingdom hearts Melody of memory on the switch . But they can't take out the original kingdom hearts on switch only cloud versions. Witcher 3 and Assassin's creed both are open world games they are on the switch . Square Enix don't care about the fans.

thanks for this info dude! after hearing this, i dont want the cloud versions since streaming is not my thing and my wi-fi can be a nuisance sometimes. also i have 1.5 2.5 2.8 and kh3 separately.

I think they're taking advantage of people who don't own any of the other consoles. Of course no one would pay this huge price if they owned a PS4, an Xbox One or a decent gaming PC. Consumers would just buy them on the other consoles where it's cheaper. Square knows they can get away with charging that much cause many Switch owners have no where else to turn to in order to play these games.

Right think of all the teens - 30 year olds who only own a switch because of their consumer loyalty and this is their first impression of the series…. This is not a good look. I loved Kingdom Hearts all the way up to III, I thought Kingdom Hearts Union X was weirdly interesting for a game on mobile, I thought the DLC for Kingdom Hearts III was good while it also felt a bit pricey for content that could easily have been in the game already, but this feels like a cheap executive decision to trick “non-fans” into consuming their oroduct cause it’s the only way they can!

Wanna know what I don't get? Iirc, cloud gaming never really took off that well, even when it came to Stadia. Why then, is Nintendo STILL doing cloud gaming, and with Kingdom Hearts, a trilogy of SINGLE PLAYER games, of all things??
