the boys have recently talked about how, in a way, dynamite’s success feels a bit bittersweet (even if they’re super happy!), so i think they purposefully chose to perform IDOL, a song that’s a big celebration of their identity, as a reminder that that’s still them, they’re proud of it and they’ll never change or trade off.

I was thinking the exact same thing! It was a brilliant decision for them to choose Idol and really show the world their roots and I hope it felt as healing for them as it was for Army. For me their best songs will always be their Korean songs and I really hope they know that. It feels like a call to arms for Army so that we can get them a No.1 with their own song, in Korean. (which obviously is no disrespect to Dynamite, they totally made it a BTS song, but I understand their mixed feelings about it. I really wish it could have been ON or Black Swan)

I saw an ARMY tweet that Dynamite is BTS' trojan horse. All radio stations gave it spins, people listened because it's in english... and then they performed Idol on Jimmy Fallon wearing korean hanboks on a korean palace. Following it with one of their bsides, Home. Love them.

Dynamite was never meant to top the charts it was a gift to A.R.M.Y to inform them that they are not alone through these tough times and BTS is always thinking about them. The boys are thoughtful and considerate to their fans all over the world.

This performance was filmed in Gyeongbokgung Palace or Gyeongbok Palace, the royal home of the Joseon dynasty. SUGA's Deachwita was filmed in Daejanggeum Park, which is a film set (where historical series and movies are shot) that's supposed to look like or at least replicate the Gyeongbok Palace. Filming and production isn't actually allowed in the real Gyeongbok Palace because it's a cultural heritage site. It's a must visit if you guys ever plan to go to Seoul. That palace is huge and majestic--just like BTS! :)

Love everything, I started dancing watching Jimin with his impeccable steps, Jk with his hair, Jin with his vowels and so on, but when V arrives with his verse he transmits all the energy of the song and I wanted to scream and dance! Completely unrelated, but I learned this yesterday from a korean: The correct way is Gyeongbok Palace or just Gyeongbokgung... If you say Gyeongbokgung Palace you are repeating the word palace twice (Gyeongbok-palace Palace), as "gung" means palace 😅

Caro Both ways are correct. You can also write "Gyeongbokgung Palace" , because most foreigners don't know the meaning of "gung" in Korean. So, our goverment offices write "palace" behind the "Gyeongbokgung" so that foreigners could understand what it is. The other examples, Hangang River / gang = river Nansan Mountain / san = mountain If we don't write 'river' or 'mountain', foreigners could not understand. As a result, both ways are correct writing system.

This is actually very normal to koreans since so many of them come from some type of royal families. It doesnt mean what we foreigners actually think it means. :)

@@alemiranda6838 Actually, that's not true. Koreans can trace back their heritage for thousands of years and some Bts members do come from the same clan as royalty. The only people who have confusing bloodlines were the slaves during the Joseon dynasty, who tried to buy/fake their way into better clans. To give another example, Min Yoongi comes from a "higher" Min clan than one of the members of Knowing Bros, which is why they had a whole joke about it during that episode. Koreans know their heritage. It's also why adoption is so often frowned upon in Korea, because they don't know the kid's bloodlines (it's something that really needs to be worked on and changed).

I’ve had the honor of visiting this palace twice!! It’s all quite majestic, but seeing this location with these KINGS in it is the GREATEST. (A close second is witnessing the pageantry of a demonstration of ‘military readiness’ like was done for the king in the past. The display of traditional hanbok/uniforms and Korean percussion instruments with it is just...wow.) If you ever get a chance to be blown away by this expansive location-GO. Btw, all the men in their modern, breathtakingly beautiful hanbok has Armys SHOOK. Jimin is my bias and I love, love, LOVE what he’s wearing...but JK’s completely took over Twitter and spawned articles dedicated to his deep-cut ‘v’ collar and that fabulous pony.
