Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on KZbin, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on KZbin. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on KZbin, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

Love The Kinks!! One of my favorites of theirs is "Sunny Afternoon". It gets stuck in my head for days. They're worth a deep dive. Blessings.

1964!! This was on the 3rd album I ever bought, at 12 years old. Kinks set the foundation for the garage rock wing of rock and roll. You recognized the riff because it is one of the most famous in rock history

From this same album, you might want to check out Tired of Waiting for You. It got a lot of airplay, and it really shows off their unique sound.

Punk when that wasn't even a musical term. Ray and Dave Davies, and their buddies, take a song and kick your face in with it. Saw The Kinks on their "Low Budget" tour in 1979 and they had a bunch of great new songs like: "(Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman", "National Health", "Sleepwalker" and "Celluloid Heroes".

The Kinks were 'Protopunk', which means they were Punk before Punk was 'Punk'.

You can complete the 'trilogy' of Kinks' proto punk garage gems with "Till the End of the Day", together with the cover version by Big Star, which has a more modern cleaner sound with equally high intensity.😊

"Punky, garagey.." That was The Kinks, just straight up four chord power riffs. But Ray was a superb songwriter, one of the best. Personal fave - I'm Not Like Everybody Else. He did a one man show some years ago and I saw him here. A sophisticated gent but onstage a growling madman

The Kinks had so many great songs, Ray was a great songwriter. One of theirs I really like was Come Dancing, and I believe you reacted to it, was because it was really personal to Ray.

I saw the Kinks once at Fordham University. Their opening band was Aerosmith, before anyone knew who they were!!! A couple more songs to check out, "Destroyer," "Tired Of Waiting," and "Til the End Of the Day."

Huge ! What a banger. Love this song since I discovered it at it release in 1964, I was sixteen. A real masterpiece that doesn't grow old due to it crazy sound. Their previous hit "You Really Got Me" has the same beat and structure. The background vocals and guitar solos are very similar.

All Day and All of the Night” was a huge success, but it would actually be eclipsed on the charts by their next single "Tired Of Waiting For You'. Ray Davies believe that "Tired Of Waiting" was the perfect POP song, and helped them make any kind of music that wanted.

When this song was first released, I was just a kid but I loved it. The song was hard but very catchy, and sounded like it was creating a new sound that would last. It still sounds great to this very day, IMO.

One of their early thrashy hits - and a great one too! Very famous riff, which was later "borrowed" for a song by The Sex Pistols, too ("Submission"). Deliberately played through a damaged speaker to get that fuzzy sound. Add in the clanking drum kit and you've got yourself a classic.

1964 was the year when Beatlemania was sweeping America. The Beatles had those great vocal harmonies on top of songs you could dance to. But then The Kinks busted out in a new direction, the prototypical 'Garage Band' sound, high energy rock that would soon evolve into 'Head Banger' rock. They probably influenced contemporary & future rock & roll bands more than even the Beatles, who had managed to make rock & roll acceptable in polite society

Yeah - every garage band quickly put this in their repertoire! Also, The Doors ripped this off a few years later with HELLO, I LOVE YOU (Won't You Tell Me Your Name?), who claimed it was written by Rick and The Ravens in '65 - but they settled out-of-court (Ray Davies said The Doors could 'do no wrong' at the time and a copyright trial was perceived to go The Doors way), so "an undisclosed sum" means "way too little". Correct - pronounced "Davis", similarly the Willys Jeep is pronounced "Willis" and NOT "Willie's". I could tell right away The Doors ripped this off - and I WAS ONLY ABOUT 12!

The best pronunciation is daviz the last letter should be more of a zed than an s. You are correct that it's more of a soft i, like in pin, than a long e at the next to last sound.

Ray Davies was a regular customer of mine when I managed a jazz club in NYC, and often would join Les Paul to jam onstage. Nice guy. Anybody who had a baby with Chrissy Hynde is a god in my book.

When I saw The Kinks in concert they were the opening act for Hall and Oates. Really?? Even back then, and still today, I think they had the concert lineup in reverse. Hall and Oates should have been opening for The Kinks. Kinks are trendsetters, part of the British invasion. Gotta love The Kinks!

As far as I know the slightly suggestive lyrics flew under the radar of censorious radio programmers. Not so for the Rolling Stones however with "Let's Spend The Night Together" and mainly in the United States, would you believe. The record received less airplay in the U.S. and stalled on the charts and Ed Sullivan made The Stones sing "let's spend some time together" when they appeared on his show.

I often wonder if they could have ever been as successful were it not for the obsessive competitive nature Ray & Dave Davies had at trying to outdo one another Ray's songs were unique, but it took Dave's guitar to give those songs the grit

Wow, the Doors really did seem to lift that rift, but I strangely never made the connection. Nice of them to let it slide. They had swagger. I bet Mick was a fan. Love their lesser-known classic, "Well-Respected Man". Great share!
