When I graduated from University, cut my hair and took off my black leather jacket I went and bought a few conservative suites and a pair each of black and cordovan brogue oxfords wing tips as being an accountant joining Ernst & Whinney (Ernst & Young now) very soon. I was showing my proud parents my new wardrobe when my father put this on the stereo and started cracking up. I chased him around the house half dressed ready to tackle him. We always joked with Kinks songs. 'Dad you should have seen the girl I was with last night' 'yeah son was she "Lola" ?'

I used to walk down the street singing this until I reached the nearest mod store. Y'know flowered shirt with white collar and white cuffs. Don't forget the bell-bottomed pants held up by my wide belt and large buckle....and oh yeah black Beatles boots with side zipper. Loved this song!

Kinks rule. This song rocks, i listened to it when i was 10 on vinyl following my Dad introducing me to them. 40 years later after the passing of my Father in Law of 21 years. I learn that he supported the Kinks at Belle Vue in my home city of Manchester. His band "The missing lynx" If anyone can find footage of that plesse send to me.
