Welcome to Amity Tracks. This is a channel where we discuss a wide range of music related topics. The focus will be on music from the 1960’s through the 1990’s, but not exclusively. Classic rock, progressive rock, psychedelic rock, hard rock, jazz, blues, folk, country, soul…all genres are fair game. From time to time we may dabble in other popular culture, such as film, history or sports. But music is primarily what we do here. The focus is on the music and the artists. We hope to encourage an open and dynamic community with fun and informative discussions not only in the videos, but also in the comments section. Please note that, while disagreement and discussion is welcome, no personal attacks or out of bounds comments will be tolerated. I saw Ray on the Other People’s Lives tour and it was incredible. He was totally on and there was enough pyro to scare a Great White audience. Nice week spent with the Kinks!

Saw the Filmore East show where the Davies Bros broke out into a full fight to finish. Ray returned to the mic and announced “Welcome to the end of the Kinks.” (Everyone should burn their own compilation. Almost too many good songs to choose from.)

Thanks for reminding me what a great live album " One for the Road" is! I bought it when it came out, but haven't played it in yonks. Also thanks for the tip "Come dancing with the Kinks" - the best of the Arista years. I always was a Dave Davies fan and had his 4 singles that came out in 67 and 68 like "Susannah's still alive" and "Lincoln County" and this was disappointed when his solo lo was shelved. The Kinks are also a fascinating subject for writers: Apart from Van Morrison Ray Davies appears to be a hell of a controversial and difficult character. In Henley-on-Thames played a band of former Kinks musicians under monikers like : marred by Ray Davies😮😂. In contrast To Ray Davies "X" book which is more fiction than fact the autobiography of Dave Davies is highly recommended - albeit the chapter on his meeting with aliens is to be read with caution😅 Dave"s Solo album "Bug" from 2002 is indeed quite interesting🎉

I really do wish that Dave had been able to release that solo album in the late 60's. It is/would have been so great.

@@amitytracks Yeah it has some cool tracks on it! Also re Kinks comps, since Kinks on vinyl is so expensive I found a 2x LP comp in the wild which is 44 tracks for over 2 hours of material which is called "Lola, Percy & The Apemen Come Face To Face With The Village Green Preservation Society... Something Else!" Which has most of the tracks from the 1966-68 albums on it all shuffled and so was like getting all three of those records (plus other tracks) for less than the price of one, (but notably omitting "Sunny Afternoon" and "Waterloo Sunset" which I thankfully have on the File Series comp which has a lot of other non-album tracks). That first comp was actually perfect for my collection because it has no tracks from Arthur or Muswell Hillbillies, which I was fortunate to score on their own for cheap.
