Hi Marc. Love this. How did you get the distressed look? I’ve tried applying white spirit vinegar over the gold leaf with a brush but I can’t get anywhere near the same effect I.e. the random patina and colours you have. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
@marcalexander54005 жыл бұрын
Hi Billy, I laid the painting flat on the ground and put a lot of vinegar on it. Then I let it dry overnight and washed it off with water the next day. Hope this helps. :)

Marc Alexander How can I make those swirls? What substance did you use? Please answer:)
@marcalexander54007 жыл бұрын
Good morning, tsira beradze. I made up a water based texture paste, which consists of one third Talc powder, one third Podge (that they use for decoupage) and one third artist white acrylic. I then coloured the paste by adding a little yellow ochre acrylic. Keep in mind that you cannot use a water based paint over an oil base. :)

Really nice : ) how did you seal the gold leaf ? was that a picture of the pink liquid in the glass jar that you brushed over it at the end? 6:51
@marcalexander54007 жыл бұрын
Yes, luminor007. It is a glaze medium made of one third refined Linseed oil, one third Liquin and one third Genuine Turpentine.
@berengerlefort86127 жыл бұрын
Hey, what do you think about the reals techniques used by Klimt, in HD google art we can see very close and i think for the background it's 2 layers of oil paint with gold fragments spread on + some touchs of gold paint; and for embossed things he carve into a thickness and not create the spiral. Very nice job anyway.

@marcalexander5400 Жыл бұрын
Hi, @anastasia1291, it's actually 'Podge' a product used in decoupage. Dala is a South African brand. It is what gives the texture paste its flexibility. :)

IW. The whole painting is copied/reproduced (or faked as you say), so what difference does it make if I add the signature? I'm not trying to hide that fact or pass it off as a Klimt original, and if I was, why would I freely share this video with you and many others? I take inspiration from Klimt's work and I have learnt a great deal from the many hours it took to reproduce this painting. :) This is my tribute to a creative master!
