How I envy you ladies. I used to have a garden but my landlord took it away from me and my neighbors. We used to have a beautiful courtyard full of hanging baskets of fuschias and other flowers, pots of pink Mandeville vines and different colors and types of flowering gingers. Now our courtyard is bare with nothing hanging from our porch rafters and no plants in pots. The younger generation of the owners have their own ideas how things should look. This happened 2 yrs ago and I'm still heartbroken. That's why I so enjoy watching your videos. They bring me joy.

These are such great videos to watch and relax with, as well as teaching us about country things. I love the way you are gradually transforming your land into what will become an idyll for you both. Its lovely that you choose to veer away from the more modern choices ie: for your kitchen, and instead go for choices that are in keeping with the property. Love that your planting Parsley. Parsley was my maiden name. I grew Chinese Parsley and the Swallowtail butterflies loved them to lay their eggs. It was amazing to watch the entire metamorphosis process.

I love sweet peas but it gets too hot too quickly for them to thrive in my climate. We had them in New Hampshire when I was young but just 80 miles south and , perhaps, because of global warming it is too hard for them just north of Boston. Enjoying all the changes you are making.

I was surprised to hear you were planting it! Cow parsnip grows alongside our highways here in Lincoln County Oregon. People here considers it a weed and don't like it in their pastors. If they have a milk cow it gives the milk a flavor like the plant.

Do plant YELLOW RATTLE if you can in your meadow as it helps wildflowers establish in grass. Your meadow will be hard work but so worth it! Best wishes. Xx

I just wondered how the new plants handle being mowed over? It would be really hard to grow anything like that in Brisbane, Australia as we need to mow every fortnight or more in the summer. I grew up in Southwest Scotland. We had gooseberry bushes. They grew really well. I remember eating the overripe berries, I still like them. Gooseberry fool, gooseberries & cream & custard…we had ancient apple and crab apple trees. The crab apples were tiny but sweet. We used to collect windfalls for my mother who would make Apple Meringue. Sweet peas every time, the scent en masse is glorious. By the way, I can see how you stay so fit. You never stop! I’ve just planted a rhubarb, so no pressure then eh? 😊 P.S. why do you prefer peat free?

I could not afford a new kitchen ..it was like yours ..I painted the doors sage green with new lighter green handles ..I left the cupboard surrounds and the top coving the pine colour and it turned out fabulous.. and I did not even have to remove the doors ..just for the cost of the paint and new handles
