As a Mavs fan it hurts to see DJJ and Josh Green go. People keep comparing him to the player he WAS but forget that the player he IS right now is still very good! As a Mavericks fan, I was against the Mavericks going after Klay, with how he regressed on defense after his injuries and possibly having to pay Klay +20 million a year to him. Which was my main concern, but for 17 million a year!? Hell yes! I like how you compared Klay new contract being similar to Tim hardaway and Davis Bertans' contract because that's literally all the same contract, except Klay easily the best among the 3 and one of the best shooters in NBA history! I'm not that worried with Klay on the Mavericks because I assume the Mavericks don't expect Klay to be prime Klay, but to take over Tim hardaway role as a spot up shooter which he can easily do. And defensively is worrisome, but I think Mavericks has the system and players that can help Klay defensively. Remember, Klay is a smart defender as well, and Mavericks scheme defensively is funneling guys into the centers, which the Warriors did not have a quality rim protecter for quite some time now. And Klay will now have 2 very high quality rim protecters to funnel guys into. And Mavericks was a top defensive team not just because of the centers but because everyone was committed, and that includes Luka playing defense as well. So, for 17 mill, a year is a worthwhile gamble for the Mavericks, and I like that gamble.

So happy you showed those clips of 3s from the finals. I was so mad about the anti luka narratives especially when they quoted his low assists, kyries too. Like... we got the open shots and our stars found the open players almost everytime regardless of the defense. And the shots were mostly uncontested but all misses. "Celtics elite defense" kept getting brought up as why we shot so poorly. I don't agree at all bc the majority of our 3 attempts were uncontested, aka despite the high level defense our high level offense still found the openings. We didn't execute. I believe the celtics shooting worse than their average had much more to do with the mavs defense than the mavs shooting poorly had to do with the celtics defense, basically. Our RP guys collapsed under the pressure even while wide open, whereas a lot of the celtics missed 3s were forced and contested shots, ie: almost all of Tatums missed shots. And no surprise the whole narrative has basically been for the last almost decade that you almost cannot guard the open 3. Almost all offense is to force a 1v2, always leaving someone open. I still agree with Lukas take when answering "what can the mavs do to win?" He said "score more". People thought he was just trying to be snarky, but I think he was damn serious. The offensive/defensive plan was fine. They just have to execute it and make their good looks. Klay is a guy I trust to make those open shots even under pressure. I know he had a really bad performance once but he has also had historic performances.

If you run his salary through paycheck calc you'll see that 17mil in Dallas leaves you with more than 20mil in SF do.

The fact that he was willing to take such a massive paycut makes me think he's finally come to terms with the fact he's not a superstar anymore: he'll come off the bench, he won't play as many minutes, but he's fine with that now. I think he left the Warriors because they still treated him like a star when he isn't one anymore, so he was getting more flak than he deserved when he didn't perform.

Stupid thatz why he left the Warriors he is not gonna be on the bench in Dallas

Klay is a superstar. All the drama on the dubs and the pressure just getting to him. Reset and behold. I just wish he knew he doesn’t have anything to prove. I think he wants to prove to himself though he his own worse enemy.

Klays passing is very underrated

I like Luka Kyrie and KT. But Mav's trategy is so stagnant and non-creative compared to Warrior's. Not sure if Klay would suit Mavs system or if they would change their game style for Klay.
@djkido3164 күн бұрын
LOL? Mavs lost in the finals because they couldn't hit their open 3s, they shot 22% on 3s in the finals yet every game was close and Mavs had a chance to win it all, With klay they got a chance to beat even celtics.

this is a confidence game, dont think hes coming back at all

He has the best shooting form in the NBA. That should allow him to still be a solid player as he gets older.

They better not sleep on Klay. I still believe he has a few good years left and definitely will help us out. Offensively….. defensively we will be fine as it was shown in the finals. It was our offense that let us down the three-point shooting

Could have got the Korean Klay, Hyun Jung Lee, for next to nothing though... :)

My man....I'm sad to see DJJ go (and J Green) was he screwed by clutch? With the tax and all I think he woulda made more in Texas. anyways I'm super pumped for the season to start. Lucky to be a Mavs fan right now

I love klay curry and draymond together I’ve been a fans of warrior since the splash brothers exist. Now it’s time to transfer to DALLAS🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
@wrecklessknight2304 күн бұрын
I'd pick Prime KLAY over CURRY for any clutch shots that needs to be made at the end of the game. Thats how i see Klay, such a phenomenal shooter who don't need to dribble.
@thesmokingmanКүн бұрын
Killa Klay is going to force defenses to pick their poison. He will feast in the openess or Kyrie and Luka will make the defenses pay. That's a great thing to have if you're Dallas. GSW are in trouble w/o Klay now whose gravity is second to Steph. And to add, Klay's defense is still elite albeit on forwards now vs guards. He's too slow to stick to the top 8 guards but his defensive experience is still up there.

Just imagine the endgame Who shoots the last shot? Luka? Kyrie? Klay? There's a REALLY good case for any of them!

would love to see the mavs play like the KD warriors since they could do it now. Let luka take the KD role, and kyrie can take the curry role with klay being klay.

Klay biggest problem is him not having a bag most his shots have been off screens or pull up jumpers working with the greatest ball handler would be the most OP thing being able to get your own shot off

He's a proven playoff performer, Mavs got him at the same salary as a THJ, Huge move by mavs.

I hope it works out for Klay and the Mavs but this video seems to be an extremely optimistic take on what he will bring this team. He lost his starter job in GS for a reason and the Warriors almost instantly started winning again when they did that.
@user-pe4wj5qj4f4 күн бұрын
He was asked to be the second option. He will be 3rd in Dallas with way less pressure.
