The KLF - What Time Is Love? - 1988 - (Pure Trance Original)

Released, in different mixes, as a series of singles by the band. It featured prominently and repeatedly in their output from 1988 to 1992.
Here in its original form, this track was an instrumental electronic dance anthem; subsequent reworkings, with vocals and additional instrumentation, yielded the international hit singles "What Time Is Love? (Live at Trancentral)" (1990) and "America: What Time Is Love?" (1991), which respectively reached number 5 and number 4 in the UK Singles Chart and introduced The KLF to a mainstream international audience.

I remember hearing this on Radio BFBS London in `88 and was sold for life. Came home put the cassette in the tape player (yes those were the days) My mom asked me "What is this?"I said "Mom, this is the KLF a form of House music" She enjoyed it immediately at high volume.

The sound still takes me back to the days of vinyl! And all samples can still be heard over and over again in all genres of music! Since 1988 I've mostly been listening to purely electronic music, but what KLF has achieved with the samples they've used is amazing!!! You can hear it in every third track you come across these days! RESPECT!!!! I love electronic music because it's better than any orgasm!!!!!!!!!!

This and it's grim up north the 12 inch version part 1 and 2 were proper tunes back in the day. And for me they still are klf were a head of there time. They worked alongside Alex Paterson another great act the orb. Brilliant times to rave the late 80s and early 90s. Great memories still to this day.

I have the 12" IGUN track uploaded, the original with Pete Wiley vox. Jimmy Cauty actually formed The Orb with Alex Patterson but his commitments to The KLF meant that he had to leave The Orb, *'Space'* which was released by KLF in 1990 was meant to be The Orb's debut album... I have the KLF version & the original version of 'Space' that Jimmy & Alex did together uploaded in my videos too btw :)

This video was compiled using footage from The White Room unreleased movie (uploaded in my videos), I made this one to showcase the full 7min original trance track, there was an official video for this track but it used a slightly shortened 5.5 minute edit of the track... That would be a Blues Brothers 'Blues Mobile' replica! Which is also what the Timelord was before the KLF bought it from an Irish Blues Brothers tribute act. I would totally Timelord up any car modern or otherwise if it was the right shape (4 door saloon) and had a bit meat under the bonnet... A Timelord can shapeshift and traverse time as he pleases so the lore definitely supports it :D

In terms of Timelording a modern car, a Ford Fusion (the 2020 model year being the last) wouldn't make too bad of a candidate though admittingly a small car compared to many of the American cars from the 1960s - 1980s.

I was a metalhead during the 80's into the early 90's. I heard klf and thought wtf, this is gonna change everything. I saw jukeboxes change overnight. Gone was rock and roll, soft metal and AOR. It changed to marrs and the likes of klf. It was fucking awesome times. The only time music changed for the better. since 98/99, it went downhill at supersonic speed........... and the radio / chart is full of sh!te.

Metalhead also (still one today) KLF suddenly made the shite interesting. Pity no band since then ever had their talent or understanding of popular taste. Plenty of good bands since then and lots I enjoy listening to but no-one ever captured the essence of subverting pop and making it a cult phenomenon like KLF. No & No! It may well still be around but it has not been registered for road use in 30 years now... It was brought to the UK as a movie prop for a Superman movie, the scenes were deleted from the final film however. It was then bought by a Blues Brothers tribute act who in turn sold it to Jimmy Cauty... There is also the possibility that it was cloned, there was 2 maybe 3 different Timelords by the time they had finished using it. In the '3 A.M. Eternal' music video it isn't even running, it was on the back of a trailer getting towed around London with a camera on its bonnet.
